The orgasm hit with a blinding flash so powerful, yet so painfully sweet, that she sobbed, her body trembling.

His arms tightened, holding her to him as his cock continued to move, pushing more pleasure through her.

‘I love you,’ she gasped. ‘I love you so much.’

Through the fog of feeling, she could sense his restraint, how hard he was inside her as he kept up his rhythm. Taking a deep breath, she brought her hands to the sides of his face.

‘I love you, James.’

He let out a strangled cry, and she bucked her pelvis, taking him deeper.

‘Estelle—’

‘I’ve got you. I love you.’

His gaze was overflowing with emotion, his muscles tensing tighter, his hips jerking faster. He looked anguished, as if he was trying to hold back, but locked into a rollercoaster.

‘I want you to come.’ She squeezed tighter around him. ‘Come inside me.’

Her words were the last straw. He let go, pounding her into the bed, roaring with his release as his body shook above her.

He was fighting for air, clutching her to him as if she was the only person who could save him.

‘I love you,’ she whispered in his ear.

He took a shuddering breath, then covered her with kisses, murmuring how much he loved her, how perfect she was, saying her name over and over.

She clenched her jaw to keep tears from spilling out.

‘Don’t cry, baby.’ James stroked her cheek. ‘I want you to be happy.’

‘I am happy, you numpty,’ she sobbed. ‘I’ve never been this bloody happy before.’

His eyes were shining as he rolled onto his side, taking her with him. His body was so big compared to hers that she felt safe and cocooned in his arms.

‘Can I get you a tissue?’

She sniffed. ‘For my nose, or the prodigious amounts of your come that’s now seeping out of me?’

Throwing back his head, he laughed. ‘Are we going to argue about who sleeps in the wet patch?’

She gave him a withering look. ‘Do I need to remind you there’s a shotgun under the bed?’

Her words only seemed to make him happier. ‘You don’t scare me anymore.’

‘Really? How very disappointing.’

‘Well, you failed to hit my nuts with the arrow, your attack-hounds humped me, and you missed the last time you pointed your shotgun my way. I think I’m safe.’ He held her tighter. ‘And I’d put money on the fact that you were more annoyed with the unicorn slippers than I was.’

‘Humph.’

‘I was wondering… What are you doing the week after next?’

She frowned. ‘I suppose more of the festival debriefing and disassembling. Why?’

‘Well, I’ve booked a five-night stay in a fancy hotel in Bognor Regis and wondered if you wanted to come with me?’

She sat up. ‘What?’
