Uncle David worked for Mr. E as long as she could remember. He was the one who handled most things for Mr. E, so she knew he would know.

“I have the login details too.”

Of course he did. “So did you tell them?”

“No.”

She sighed, relieved. “How did you get away, then?”

“I don’t have to report what I do all the time,” Uncle David said. “I took the private jet, so they must assume I was going on a date.”

Clary chuckled.

“What are you doing here?” His gaze flitted over to Seth and Zane. “I can’t imagine why any of you need anything from her.”

Clary updated Uncle David on Persistent Pete and Hacker Remo, and how they led them here.

Uncle David shook his head. “Holly doesn’t have Internet access. She isn’t supposed to.”

“Well, someone broke the rules for her.”

Uncle David’s brows rose. “Then it’s time to move her, or find and dismiss that employee.”

Clary turned back to Seth and Zane. “Uncle David will come with me.”

The brothers gave Uncle David a head-to-toe scan.

“Where am I going?”

“With me, to see Holly,” she said. “You’ll wait for me outside the room and make sure I don’t get hurt.”

“Two of the center’s employees will be outside the door at all times.”

“Someone gave her Internet access when it wasn’t allowed,” Zane said. “And you expect us to trust the employees?”

Uncle David nodded. “I’ll go with you.” He looked over at the brothers. “I won’t let her get hurt. Because if she does, I’ll lose my head. Literally. Her nonna is very good with knives.”

Clary laughed and nudged Uncle David with her elbow.

Seth frowned. “Clary, please be serious.”

“Yes, sir.”

Uncle David arched a brow, while Seth’s concerned gaze roamed across her face.

“Please be careful,” Seth said.

“I will. I promise.” She tapped her pendant. “I’m wearing this. If I need help, I’ll press the button for the cops.”

Uncle David tapped her shoulder. “You won’t be able to keep that on,” he said. “No jewelry. No belts. No phones. No bags.”

“Oh. So like a prison.”

“Holly also won’t have anything sharp. There’s no mirror in the room. No glass or metal items.”

“Someone—”

“There are room checks conducted regularly,” Uncle David interrupted Zane. “Whoever is on shift checks the room, so it would be difficult to hide anything dangerous even if she has someone helping her.”
