The wall directly across from the couch, where a TV usually was, stood empty.
Clary nodded. “The poster goes on the middle.”
“Then the tree can go beside it.”
“Awesome.” She looked at the mess on the floor. “I’ll pick up—”
“Please still be here.”
At the stranger’s voice, Clary turned toward the door.
The man with blond hair and gray eyes beamed. “You must be her.” His tone, though filled with amusement, sounded somewhat accusatory.
She blinked. Who else had she offended that would find his way here?
“Aldric.” Seth came up next to her and hooked his hand on her hip. “The brother you haven’t seen.”
Aldric’s eyes widened, and his jaw dropped as his lips formed an ‘O.’
Clary glanced over at Seth.
“Clary Fiore,” Seth said and gave her a reassuring smile.
“Hello, hello.” Aldric released his hold on his suitcase handle and strode toward her. “What are you doing with my brother?”
She frowned.
“You’re associated with the Eolenfelds, so I’m sure you have more than enough money.”
Clary swallowed a sigh. “Let me guess, Elton told you all about me.”
“Yes, he did.” Aldric gave her a critical head-to-toe scan.
“Are you wearing contacts?”
Aldric’s gaze snapped up, and he locked eyes with her. All amusement faded from his eyes. “I don’t like her,” he said to her face.
Clary blinked again. “Oh, wow.”
Seth’s grip on her hip tightened, as if he was worried she’d walk away.
Turning to stare at Seth, Aldric continued, “I don’t want her here.”
“Then get the hell out of my place.”
CHAPTER 5
Seth didn’t glance over at Clary even as she sucked in a surprised breath, while Aldric leaned back as if he’d been hit.
Aldric blinked once, twice.
Then he turned to Clary again.
Seth took a small step forward, putting himself half a step in front of her.
“What the hell?” Aldric glared at him. “What did you think I’d do? Lunge at her and beat her up?” His lips twisted. “I’m not Holly.”
Aldric Anderson, fourth in line of the brothers, the wildest among all of them.
