His lips curled. “Sure.” He packed the projector into the bag.

“Really?”

“Nothing has five hundred episodes per season.”

She smiled. “Did I ruin your favorite movie series?”

“You didn’t ruin anything.” He turned to her and gave her a small, warm smile. It was so kind, so indulgent, and Clary found herself wanting to reach out to pull him close and kiss him.

Instead, she closed her eyes and snuggled into the pillow. “Do you need help packing up?”

“You’re in my room, Clary.”

She took a deep breath through her nose, drawing in the fresh, woody scent from his pillow. “Wake me up when you’re done.”

CHAPTER 10

Seth didn’t wake Clary up.

Instead, her phone’s alarm on Monday morning did.

She’d thought she was in her own room, until she saw the desk.

“Did Edward Eolenfeld send them?” Seth asked as he pulled his car into the parking garage at EB Co.

Besides Seth’s car, there were eight Hayes Security trucks parked side by side.

“My new security team’s here.” She tapped on her pendant. “Same company.”

“I thought you were going to stealthily change out the employees.”

She shook her head. “We’re going to make a statement today. Out with the old—all that Hugh and the boys’ club condoned will no longer be acceptable.”

Seth’s brows drew together.

“Bad idea?”

“No. I think it’s a great idea.” He peered over at her as he drummed his fingers against the steering wheel. “You’ll have Andrea with you at all times, right?”

Clary nodded. “Not just her. The plan is for a security team to follow us around. One, for protection. Two, to throw unruly employees out.”

“Good.” He drummed his fingers again. “Be careful, okay?”

“I will. And I’m really sorry you had to sleep on the floor. Next time, just wake me up or go sleep in my bed.” She unbuckled her seat belt, which was a lot easier now that her hand wasn’t wrapped in a thick bandage.

Seth got out of the car, then jogged over to her side.

“Lord, bless my day. Show me your favor.” She watched Seth come around the car. “And keep Seth under your wings too.”

He opened the door for her. “Did you say something?”

“I was praying.” She put her hand into his and got out.

“Do you have time to get your stitches removed today?”

“I don’t think so.”

“I’m sorry. I forgot all about it yesterday.”
