I gritted my teeth and watched Sage dance around in the sand.

The ocean as the background.

The waves crashing.

Did I mention… Sage… dancing around in the sand…?

Chapter Twenty-Two

SAGE

Way… Way… Back…

I’m tipsy on the beach with Henry? This cannot be real. There is zero chance of this ever happening.

I stopped spinning and looked for Henry.

I couldn’t find him right away because the beach kept spinning.

How stupid of me to spin around like I was.

My stomach felt like a front load washing machine. Up and around… up and around…

My feet dug into the sand a little. The extra balance at this point was definitely needed.

I felt myself sway to the left. Then to the right.

I knew right then I was going to end up falling.

The dizziness became too much for my head and my body.

So I pictured myself gracefully falling back and hitting the ocean.

Then a whole bunch of dolphins would show up and take me away to some secret part of the ocean, where I could become a mermaid and live happily ever aft-

“I’ve got you, honey,” Henry’s voice said the moment his hands touched my sides.

He grabbed me at a neutral place on my body.

My hips would have been too sexual.

Grabbing up, thumbs hitting my boobs, well that would have just been…

“Henry,” I whispered.

“Sage,” he said.

“Are you really here?”

“Nope. I’m a ghost.”

“I’m being serious. Will you pinch me?”

“Where?”

The smirk on Henry face made me gasp.

I wondered how many people had long since seen the other side of Henry. Beyond the big and strong decent guy. The guy who believed in honesty and all that good guy stuff. Because I had seen the other side of Henry before. The side where he beat up my ex because the guy grabbed my arm, left a mark and hurt me. The side where he was so enraged… and then the way he pulled over and we started to kiss and touch… and more…
