“That rebound was juicier than stepping on an orange,” Seb said.

“Doesn’t count,” Jago said. “We agreed to one shot. You took the shot.”

“I had you beat, Jago.”

Jago shook his head. “Nope. I protected the net. You hit the bar. Not my fault.”

“I didn’t take a second shot,” Seb said. “I handled the rebound you offered. Big difference.”

“There’s no damn difference,” Jago said. “Guys, back me up here.”

Atlas, Joe, and Rome all looked at me.

They needed the thoughts of good-guy Henry.

I shook my head. “I’m not getting in the middle of this one. Last I heard, there was beer in the locker room.”

“Did someone say beer?” Joe asked.

Atlas had already begun to skate to get off the ice.

We followed, including Seb and Jago as they continued to bicker at one another about the blindfolded goal… or non-goal.

Once in the locker room, Joe helped himself to a beer first.

As he began to pass out drinks to the rest of us, my phone began to ring from inside my gym bag.

I had this weird need to quickly dig through my bag to find the phone.

That caught everyone’s attention.

When I saw Sage’s name…

I looked around and then took a few steps away.

“That must be her,” I heard Rome say. “She’s got him bad right now. Look at him.”

“Hey, Sage,” I said.

“Are you busy? Is this a bad time?”

Oh, baby, yeah! Fuck me!

I spun around and Rome started to laugh.

“Henry?” Sage asked.

“Sorry,” I said. “That was Rome being a fool. I hope Travis didn’t hear that.”

“No, he didn’t. It’s fine.” Sage laughed. “Just hockey guys being hockey guys, right?”

“Something like that,” I said. “Are you okay?”

“I can’t just call and say hello?”

“Of course you can.” I turned away from the guys and walked away. “I didn’t mean it like that. I just… you know…”

“Henry,” she said. “Remember what you said to me before you left?”
