“Yeah?”

“One of everything. Two of everything…”

“Two?” Travis asked.

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, kid. Can’t skimp out at all. Got to eat to grow big muscles.”

I flexed in front of the kid.

“Well, good morning,” Sage’s voice said from behind me.

I spun around, still flexing my arms. I lifted an eyebrow and smiled.

She wiggled her eyebrows at me.

God, all I wanted to do right now was walk up to her, scoop her up and hug her. I wanted to kiss her, taste her morning breath. Sit her on the counter and ease my tongue between her legs and taste her sweet morning pussy.

“Henry said we can order the entire menu!” Travis announced.

“He did what?” Sage asked.

“We’re going to have some fun today,” I said. “Two of everything from the breakfast menu. And then we’re going to go find some adventures. If that’s okay with you, Sage.”

“Mom?” Travis asked.

“Wow,” Sage said. “I feel trapped. What if I wanted to have a relaxing day?”

Travis hurried to stand next to me. He reached up and patted my arm. “Then me and Henry will have fun today. You can relax and be boring.”

I looked down at Travis. “It’s Henry and I.”

“Right,” Travis said.

Sage started to laugh.

Our eyes met again and last night flooded my mind.

The chance that Travis was indeed my son. That I was possibly standing next to my own son. My own flesh and blood. A life I created. A life I missed out on for nine years. Plus the pregnancy.

There was the same chance that Travis wasn’t mine at all.

That tore my heart to pieces.

After a few seconds of silence, Sage put her hands to her hips. “Well, are we ordering food or what?”

It took a lot to wear me out, and Travis gave a valiant effort.

The two of everything breakfast had been stellar.

Travis asked to eat in his room, which allowed Sage and I to share a breakfast outside, alone, poolside.

Eating, sipping coffee and orange juice, listening to the ocean, stealing flirty glances just for fun.

Then we were off.

We changed and went into the pool to start. Then down to the beach and right into the ocean. Sage skipped the ocean. She stood on the shoreline and watched, smiled and waved. I taught Travis how to spot a good wave and swim with the wave to shore.

One comment about surfing and we were out of the ocean.
