I reached for my bag and found a spare white t-shirt I had packed.

I dug around in the front zipper area and found a marker.

I signed the shirt for the two boys.

Jeffrey and Drew -

Rock wins over scissors

Scissors wins over paper

Paper wins over rock

But nothing wins over when Mom calls your name!

Fly high

Henry

The boys screamed as they ran back to their mother.

She looked at the shirt, smiled, and stuck up her right thumb.

Jeffrey and Drew proceeded to tell their mother everything possible about me.

Calling out stats and games and all kinds of stuff as I rolled my bag and showed my ticket to first class.

I found my seat and looked out the window.

I didn’t bother to bring a book or anything like that with me.

I knew in advance the entire flight would revolve around one thing.

And only one thing.

Sage.

I had my bag over my shoulder as I stood at the car rental counter.

There were always a lot of fun options when it came to renting a car.

I pictured myself in some fancy and expensive car, cruising up to the old house, smiling, looking like a fool just to impress Sage.

I reminded myself I wasn’t near the beach. It also wasn’t summer-like all year round either.

Such a minor argument to have with myself over a vehicle.

I chose the biggest SUV they had available.

A tank looking kind of vehicle, able to seat nine people easily.

It was obnoxious but damn comfortable.

I felt like a pilot when I climbed into the driver’s seat.

I looked at my phone and punched in the address on the GPS screen and hit GO.

Just like that a voice began to navigate me to Sage.
