“Just give the knot a little tug,” Henry said with a smile.

Travis touched the knot on the tie and pulled it.

“There you go,” Henry said. “Remember what I showed you?”

“Kind of,” Travis said.

“You tied his tie for him,” I said out loud.

“Sure I did,” Henry said. “No big deal. I still hate wearing ties. And I hate tying them.”

“Travis, did you thank Henry for helping you?” I asked.

“Thanks,” Travis said.

“No worries,” Henry said.

I looked at Travis.

My son looking so handsome and dressed up.

Then I looked at Henry.

So while I was in my bedroom taking my time and figuring out my grief, then slipping away into some dirty fantasy about Henry, he was out here helping my son. Giving me the space and time I needed.

Why can’t I have that all the time?

I felt my chin starting to quiver.

All the emotion I had been fighting off that morning was coming up really fast.

I really didn’t want to burst into tears in front of Travis.

“Hey, kid, why don’t we go downstairs?” Henry asked. “How about you tell me about this football sport you play…?”

Henry winked at Travis and Travis laughed.

Travis went first.

Henry followed.

Henry looked back at me and gave a nod.

My okay to cry.

Knowing I wasn’t alone in this.

I covered my mouth.

Tears filled my eyes and poured out with ease.

Not being alone today really meant a lot to me.

But what about the rest of my life, Henry?
