Her eyes watered as Colin softly kissed her goodbye, whispering in her ear that she was brave, and she was going to do well, before they wheeled her out.

Olivia indeed woke up on the table, but then was quickly put under once more.

In recovery, Colin raised his eyebrow at her when the doctor explained that she was hard to put to sleep. They explained that her injury was, in fact, a tear that most athletes get after years of being in their career. They went in microscopically, so the scaring should be minimal. The post-surgery grogginess helped her to keep quiet about what she did to cause the injury, only thanking the doctor before he left her to get dressed.

At her insistence, the nurse helped her dress and then strapped her into a sling.

Ignoring her pleas to walk, they wheeled her all the way to the front entrance. She grumbled once more when Colin had the hospital valet bring his vehicle to the front for her so he could be with her every step of the way.

Bending down, he scooped her up from the chair and deposited her carefully into the passenger seat that he already had reclined. Olivia giggled groggily as he produced a small pillow to place under her arm to help prop it up.

Colin turned and flashed the accompanying nurse a megawatt smile as she praised him for taking such good care of her. He gently closed the door before getting in next to her and pulling off.

On the highway, Colin voice texted Vanessa to inform her they were on the way home and sent her the address to the house again. Then he preordered take out for them all for dinner, pizza and pasta this time.

Something easy and that he knew Allison should like.

Olivia succumbed to her medicine and slept reclining on the way home. So, he took advantage of the opportunity to stop at the pharmacy drive through and pick up her prescription medicine and her birth control pills. Now and then he reached over to run his hand down her bare arm affectionately.

Finding that it was difficult to keep his hands off her.

He was incredibly proud of how brave she'd been, despite her grumpy mood. And he was trying to think of a way to reward her in a way that she would be receptive to.

Pulling onto his property, he parked in the front drive again by the fountain, reaching in to lift her still sleeping form out of the car. He carried her into the house and laid her in the informal lounge by the kitchen. Covering her gently with a plush Hermes blanket to make sure she was comfortable. He turned the sound system to some soothing music to create some white noise so that he wouldn’t disturb her while he pitter pattered around the house.

Four hours later, he was sitting on the couch across from Olivia on his computer. Enjoying an expensive scotch and watching the news, when his phone pinged with a message. Vanessa said she was off work and on her way with Allison, coming to spend the night after Olivia’s surgery.

Colin ran upstairs to check that the guest room and ensuite were suitable, and he opened the doors to their private terrace, letting a breeze in.

He smoothed out the cream sheets on the four-poster bed, turning the two lamps on a low setting on either side of the bed. He glanced at the plush unicorn that he had Mary pick up for Allison, sitting on the side chair waiting for it's new owner. Then he headed into the bathroom, making sure there were enough toiletries for them and towels.

After a few more seconds of running around, he stopped, realizing that he was trying to impress Olivia’s sister and niece. He wanted them to know she was being taken care of.

The thought of caring enough to prove his intentions threw him off kilter, so he put a lid on the whys and went downstairs to grab the pizza and pasta delivery. Placing it into the warmer.

Colin's phone rang. Vanessa again. He answered it quickly. Looking over and seeing that Olivia was still deeply asleep, he turned, making his way down the hallway.

“Hey Colin,” Vanessa sounded slightly irritated. “I think we’re lost.”

“Did you double check that you put the right address in the GPS?” he enquired. Stepping quickly into his downstairs study, he sat down at the mahogany desk and pulled out his personal laptop. He put her on speaker while he jiggled the screen awake. Wincing when the bright light assaulted his eyes, he reached for his readers to slip them on quickly. There was a light shuffle in the background.

“Yes but I barely see any houses and everything’s gated. I pulled over just to make sure. I didn’t want to bug you, but I thought it might be worse if we were truly lost,” her soft voice carried through the phone along with Allison’s murmuring.

Colin typed in his password and pulled up his favorite search engine. Leaning back into the seat, he settled in comfortably, hearing the comforting creak of the leather of his expensive office chair.

“It’s no bother at all. Send me your location really quick,” he said, as he busied himself pulling up a luxury website for bedsheets.

He scrolled through the thread count for California king size sheets and found the nicest ones at almost half a grand a piece. Putting several set sheets and pillowcases in the cart before clicking the check out button, ignoring the steep price tag. Considering how wet she’d gotten yesterday morning, and the night of their first date, he wanted spare sheets for their bed for when Olivia was healed up. He had a feeling they were going to need them.

His phone pinged, and he checked Vanessa's location.

“You’re in the right place. You have a few more minutes to drive. The code is nine-four-two-ten. By the way, I put two million dollars in your account Vanessa, where did you think I lived exactly?” he chucked down the phone, teasing her.

He listened to her shocked scoff and wished he could visualize her face.

“These are insane homes, not your regular mansions. I didn’t know. We didn’t exactly grow up around wealth to know the difference. I mean, you’ve seen my house, right?“ she said tiredly, and he felt bad for making her feel less than. So, he pulled up another webpage and bought a ridiculous unicorn and flamingo floating device for the pool, hoping that Allison would like it.
