“Great vampire. The Sanctuary is everything but nothing. It is here to be enjoyed for the evening. It is magical. One never knows when or where it will appear again.”

“That must be some heavy duty magick,” Rafe remarked.

“The pools contain mineral water from all over the world.” She pointed across the room. “That one there has the healing hot spring water from the blessed Incan springs in Peru, fresh from the Andean mountains. That one there has water imported from the Dead Sea. Each is marked accordingly.”

“May I suggest you have a drink?” Sayuri clapped her hands and two men dressed in skintight green lizard costumes arrived within seconds. Immediately they began pouring champagne and distributing the glasses.

“Thorn believes his guests should experience the very best life has to offer. He has a great attention to detail. Cristal.” Sayuri accepted two glasses and handed them to both Cassia and Julian. “Kanpai.” She held the glass up into the air and brought it to her lips.

Though he didn’t trust her or Thorn, Julian sipped the bubbly liquid so as to be polite. As he scanned the room, he noted a fine vapor releasing from hot-pink potted hibiscus plant flowers.

“What’s in the mist?” he asked.

“It’s magick infused. A spell of euphoria.”

“You’re drugging the guests?” Greyson laughed. “That’s one way to get this shindig goin’.”

“As I said, it’s an immersive experience.” Sayuri’s focus shifted to a cloaked figure who emerged through a thick brush of bamboo.

Julian studied the subtle change in her expression, her smile fading briefly. Though she recovered and flashed him a broad smile, her concern had already been revealed.

“I’m afraid I must attend to the staff. Thorn will be arriving soon and the performance must continue. Please avail yourselves of the pools. Be aware we have a diverse paranormal community with us this evening. Thorn would appreciate it if you didn’t antagonize the dragons in any way. We had an incident at a past event.”

“Oh, they did,” Rafe whispered to Dominique.

“Have a wonderful evening.” Sayuri turned on her heels and headed toward the back of the atrium.

“Arigato. Thorn is quite the showman,” Julian nodded as she stole one last glance at him.

“This is quite the party,” Rafe said.

“What party? This is giving spa date vibes,” Dominique sniffed.

“It’s like she said, though, isn’t it? It’s a performance,” Julian noted. “And this is just the first act. We’re living it.”

“I suppose we should head over to the Dead Sea. Tour the room. Get the lay of the land. There’re a few heavy hitters in the room, ladies and gentlemen. Their energy is strong.” Greyson brought his glass to his mouth. “I wanna know who they are.”

“We’ll go to the center pool.” Julian kept his voice low. “Sayuri appeared a bit shaken. She’s a good actress but not that good. I’m wondering who was working the shadows.”

“Dominique. Go with Greyson. Rafe. Come with us to the pool. It’s safer.” Julian wanted the wolf with him. Though he knew Greyson would keep him safe, the wolf was his responsibility, his pack. Nothing would harm him tonight.

“Interesting. No humans,” Rafe noted.

“There’re no wolves here tonight either.” Dominique told him. She scanned the room. “A few witch donors are about. I know you’ve preferred humans, but witches are an acquired taste.”

“Jax has his wolves tucked away safely in the city,” Julian said. “He doesn’t care for Thorn’s theatrics.”

“That’s because he’s busy creating his own.” Greyson set down his empty glass onto the tray of a passing server.

“Let’s go.” Julian tugged on Cassia’s hand and looked back to Rafe who followed.

The Alpha planned to play along with Thorn’s immersive event, stoking the demon’s ego. They needed answers and they needed them fast. Many things in life were forgiving but time wasn’t one of them.

“This place. It feels so good.” Cassia kicked off her sandals, removed her white silk robe and draped it over a teak chair.

Arousal threaded through his body as she turned to face him. As if Julian hadn’t seen her in hours, his cock lengthened at the sight of her. Her long thick curls draped over her olive skin. Her silver bikini hugged her body perfectly, accentuating her full round bottom. I’m so fucking lucky.
