“We’d better get in the pool before we put on our own performance,” he half-joked.

“That might be interesting.” She shot him a sexy smile.

The hot mineral water kissed their bodies, warmth dancing over their skin. Unable to resist, Julian pulled her toward him, until her breasts brushed his chest.

“When I’m around you … I can barely keep my hands off you.” He grazed a kiss to her cheek and whispered in her ear. “When we get back I’m going to devour every last inch of you.”

She gasped as he reached between her legs and cupped her mound. Mine.

“Julian,” she breathed.

“I’m going to fuck you like you’ve never been fucked, meu amor.”

Loud squealing laughter interrupted their moment and Julian leaned back onto the ledge of the hot pool to get a better view of the room. Rafe swam to the opposite side of the pool so he could keep watch over the Alpha and his mate from the opposite direction.

Cassia adjusted her seating on Julian’s lap, facing outward so she could see as well.

His lips found her neck while he scanned the conservatory. As he peppered her skin with kisses, he spoke to her. “Those guys sitting over there near the fire are fae.”

“How do you know?” she asked in a whisper.

“I can scent their hellfire from here.”

“Witch at three o’clock.” She smiled. “Lovely little pentagram on her hip.”

“Absinthe’s coven. She’s got three crescents underneath on her side ribs.”

“Did you see Sayuri’s eyes?”

“I suspect she’s part dragon. But something about her…I could be wrong but I sense wolf as well.”

“Why do you think she’s with Thorn? I mean, she seemed so nice.”

“It’s as she said. Thorn desires the best of the best. There must be something about her he admires. I doubt it has to do with throwing parties but I can’t be sure. Perhaps a special skill she brings to his table. Do not be tricked by her pleasant demeanor.”

“There is something about her,” Cassia continued.

“Vampire over at the ice bar.” Julian watched with fascination as a bartender poured blood from a carafe into an enormous humpback whale ice sculpture. As the bright red liquid flowed from its ice luge, a pale vampire, dressed in board shorts, captured the blood in his wide open mouth, his fangs descended.

“That’s something you don’t see every day.” Cassia wrinkled her nose.

Julian watched with intensity as a brunette with her hair tied up in space buns approached Rafe from behind. The Alpha’s eyes locked with the wolf’s and gestured to alert him.

“Who’s that?” Cassia asked.

“Donor.” Julian studied the woman as she held out her wrist to Rafe. He sniffed her arm and began talking with her.

“Is she legit?”

“Thorn curates the best. See the tattoo on her neck.” Julian focused in on the witch. She wore an intricate patterned tattoo choker inked in red. “It’s a rare international coven. They sacrifice their blood with the belief it brings them more power. They’re very selective. Some witches live in the States but the main coven operates mostly in Europe.”

“Do you think his wolf will return soon?” Cassia asked.

“Yes, but it may take time. My ability to throw light is what you’d call inconsistent at best. I’ve been short circuited since the last time I chased demons.”

“Do you think you’ll get it back? How long have you had this special gift?”

“I’ve been able to do it for hundreds of years. Recently taught my sister to call on it. She can do it too. Not sure when I’ll get it back. It’s there, I know … it’s gotta be there. I’ve noticed since we’ve mated, my body feels invigorated.”
