Nico didn’t like leaving her alone, but he’d also promised that she made her own decisions now. And it was a promise he intended to keep. He took a step back as Kaylin sank onto a sunlounger.

“I’ll be on the main deck. Take all the time you need.”

“Nico…” the blonde practically purred. “I wasn’t expecting to see you here.”

She grabbed his shirt collar with scarlet talons and planted a kiss on his lips, then stood there expectantly. Who was she? There was a reasonable chance he’d slept with her in the dim and distant past, but he couldn’t remember her name.

“Yes, it’s been a long time. I’m actually here with?—”

“You got so boring. Fabian said you opened a hotel in some tinpot town, and you didn’t throw a single party.”

“Other priorities, I’m afraid. If you’ll excuse?—”

“Hey, do you remember Miranda?” She waved at a redhead near the DJ. “Miranda! Look who’s here.”

The blonde grabbed his hand, but before she could drag him somewhere he didn’t want to go, an arm snaked around his waist.

“Lost sight of you for a moment, honey.” Kaylin laid her other hand on his chest. Possessive. He liked that. “Aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend?”

Could be tricky.

Thankfully, the blonde liked the sound of her own voice. “I’m Cheyenne.”

Ah, now Nico remembered. Cheyenne no-last-name, big on Instagram. He hadn’t slept with her, thank goodness, but not from a lack of effort on her part.

“Katy.” Kaylin leaned forward and the women air-kissed, European-style. “Great party.”

“Isn’t it? Carlos wants me to help with promoting the boat.”

“Yacht,” Nico said.

“Whatever. Hey, can you take a picture of me by the bar?”

Kaylin managed to refrain from rolling her eyes. “Sure.”

“So, what do you do, Katy? You’re real pretty. How many followers do you have?”

“Followers?”

“On social media.”

“Oh, I don’t do social media.”

“No way! Not even Insta?”

“I used to work in events, but I’m taking time off to raise our son.”

“Your…son?” Cheyenne faltered. “You and Nico?”

“That’s right.”

“Wow, I didn’t realise.”

Nico smiled at Kaylin’s effortless cover story. “As I said, I have other priorities now.”

“Katy, you should totally start a mommy blog. I bet your kid is real photogenic.”
