Alex was simply the perfect guy—at least when it came to sex…and when he wasn’t behaving like an ass or lashing out.

But more would be complicated—no matter how much I wanted it. Or how much I fantasized about this bad boy calling me his princess and meaning it.

“Here we are.” The driver looked outside at the address Frank gave me.

I did, too.

The area was not what I’d expected. It looked…too posh…not at all what I’d expected…or as if there was a sex club anywhere on this street.

I took out my phone and called Frank, who picked up after the first ring.

“I’m here. Did you give me the wrong address?”

The exact moment I asked him, a heavy wooden door swung open to my left, and Frank stepped outside and waved at me.

I scooted over, thanked the driver, then exited the car.

“You should’ve let me pick you up,” Frank said while hugging me.

Yeah, that was a definite no.

I’d been at the club with Alex, Matt, and Cristo all afternoon, helping clean up behind the bar and watching them implement a new security protocol and briefing and running drills with the staff, including the additional security staff.

Having Frank pick me up wouldn’t have gone over well.

Not with Alex being all super attentive, flirty, and acting like a possessive boyfriend with me.

I didn’t even tell him I was meeting Frank; instead, I told him I was going to meet with Cara and Sophie—letting sleeping dogs lie and all that jazz.

Because I knew for sure Alex wouldn’t have let me go if he knew where I was going, or who I was meeting—and I’d made a promise.

“Care to explain now what’s going on?” I stepped back and looked at Frank. He didn’t look very good—pale, his eyes a little panicky. Not the usual, calm, cool, and collected.

It made me nervous for whatever reason I couldn’t put my finger on.

Maybe meeting him wasn’t such a smart move, especially not without telling anyone.

“Let’s take a selfie first—let the gang know where we are,” Frank said and gave me an assuring smile.

The tightness in my chest immediately lessened. This was Frank. He wouldn’t drag me into shit that would be dangerous.

I posed with him for a selfie, had him send it to me, and forwarded it to Sophie.

Doing my old friend Frank a favor and going to a sex club called Sanctum with him. Should be out in an hour—call me by then—if I don’t answer, alert the authorities.

I sent the text, then looked up when Frank presented me with a sexy lacey-eyed mask.

“What’s that?”

“A mask. It’s mandatory for all attendees tonight.” Frank presented his own mask, which was a simple black mask without any of the lace or sexiness like the one he handed me.

I narrowed my eyes. “I’m not going in there with you before you tell me exactly what is going on and why you needed me so desperately to go with you.”

He looked up and down the street. “How about we go in, order a drink, I’ll tell you, and then, if you decide you want to leave, we can leave.” He held my gaze while I thought about it.

Standing outside didn’t feel good, or safe. And a sex club—at least, the ones I’d visited before—usually had dungeon monitors and people in place to provide a safe and secure environment.

Relatively speaking.
