“And you didn’t find it necessary to tell me?”

I returned her gaze, saying nothing. I honestly didn’t think she was the one they were after, so this purse-snatching was a little surprising.

She scrutinized me. “So that’s the kind of power you have here? You just tell them the model of the motorcycle, and they will find him for you?”

I stared back and shrugged my shoulder nonchalantly. “My family has done business here for a long time,” I replied.

Done business, owned the island…potatoes, potatoes. I never thought much about the reality of my family’s influence and the weight it carried here—a family I wasn’t a part of anymore.

Not a Falcone.

Fiona nodded. “Sounds about right.” She turned back and stared after the long-gone motorcycle. “Your cockiness screams entitled asshole,” she muttered under her breath—clearly not intended for me to hear.

I raised a single eyebrow. I was cocky alright, and it had nothing to do with my entitled upbringing.

I stalked toward her. “Wanna know where my cockiness really comes from?”

She looked at me over her shoulder, and I took a step forward until my lips almost touched her earlobe. “The hint is in the word.”

I smirked when she rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress a smile.

“You’re so full of yourself, it’s not even funny.”

“Come on,” I said, trying to lighten the mood as I took her hand and dragged her towards the boutique. “Let’s get you some new clothes, and then we can grab that ice cream you wanted.”

And then I would make sure to get to the bottom of this.

Fiona hesitated then sighed. “I don’t have my wallet, and…my phone.” She suddenly looked freaked out.

I waved a hand, dismissive. “Don’t worry about money.”

“I don’t want you to buy me anything,” she insisted. “And my phone is much more valuable.”

I narrowed my brows. “Why?”

“Because of the pictures.”

“What pictures?”

She stared back at me, not saying anything.

Holy fuck.

Was she talking naked pics? Of herself?

“What kind of pictures do you have on your phone, princess?” I growled, barely holding onto my self-restraint. This woman gave me whiplash.

One moment, we were laughing as if we were friends, the next, she was teasing me, flirting with me, or making me hard.

Fiona Donnelly affected me far more than any woman had the right to.

She stared back at me, the old defiance glittering through.

Defying me again.

“Fuck.” I dragged my hand through my hair, then took my phone back out. “Matt, make sure her phone remains untouched.”

I ended the call, then stared at her. “As soon as we have your phone back and I’m done with that asshole, you will show me those pictures.”
