I’m going to do my best to ignore the breathtaking view and give all the well-deserved attention to my husband, my king, and my fated mate, who has gone through a lot of trouble to prepare over two thousand rose petals around the room and at least around a dozen lavender-scented candles. We are ready to spend a wonderful night alone with the possibility of extending it a couple of days if our duties allow us to do so. The room and its atmosphere really help set up the mood.

“Some champagne for my beautiful wife?” Garren asks, holding up a bottle of a very expensive Dom Perignon.

“Maybe just one,” I say, not being too big of a fan of alcohol that isn’t beer.

Nothing to be ashamed of, my wolf assures me. We are who we are, and we like what we like.

“I’m actually pleasantly surprised that you agreed to it,” Garren tells me as he fills up the glass. I cock my brow in question, and he chuckles. “I haven’t seen you drink on many occasions, but whenever I did, you always had a beer in your hand. Not even a glass of wine. Only beer.”

“Maybe I didn’t have anything worth celebrating yet,” I say with a playful smile and take the offered glass. We gently clink them together. “I feel like I’ve been waiting for you my whole life. It’s as if I’ve been holding my breath, and only now, I’m finally able to let go and relax.”

“You and me both, my darling wife,” Garren agrees, using every opportunity to address me by my new legal status.

“I have to take a shower, and get all these heavy clothes off me,” I say with a shake of my head. “I feel like a stuffed pig.”

“A delicious stuffed pig,” Garren supplies unhelpfully. “I’m looking forward to confirming just how good you taste.”

“Do you want to join me?” I ask, suppressing the urge to roll my eyes at his ridiculous comment.

“You go ahead,” he tells me and waves his phone in the air. “I’ll make some calls to confirm that our world won’t fall apart while we’re too busy rolling around in bed.”

He helps unzip my dress, and then I lean forward to kiss his cheek and hand him my now half-empty glass of champagne. He gives me a small smile when he catches my eye moments before I close the bathroom door.

Considering that we’re at the best penthouse New York has to offer, the bathroom can’t even compare itself to the one at the Grey Manor. It’s an oversized master bathroom clad in rare Chinese Onyx, with double sinks, a deep soaking tub, a separate glass-enclosed shower, and even a TV. While the tub and the shower stall are still large, they’re also visibly smaller compared to the ones I’ve gotten used to in a very short amount of time.

The shampoo and hair conditioner are both of some expensive brands, but I don’t bother to check the scent. I just want to wash off the day and begin the night with my husband.

Be careful, my wolf warns me when I impatiently tug at the dress. Take a breath!

I do as she says and even close my eyes to refill my patience levels. It doesn’t help much, but at least I’m able to take my wedding dress off me without ruining it. I even give it enough thought to hang it somewhere where it will keep dry while I’m in the shower.

The hot water comes immediately, and I let out a little moan, reveling the release of the tension in my muscles. I make sure to thoroughly wash my skin even though it’s only an excuse to further extend my shower time. I’m looking forward to being with Garren, but I’m also enjoying the hot stream of water.

When there’s nothing left for me to scrub or shampoo, I have no other choice but to finish it off. I step out of the shower stall and only slightly dry my body. I’m going to leave my hair dripping with water to give Garren something else to play with.

I return to the bedroom with only a towel wrapped around me. Garren’s back is turned toward me, his eyes locked on the views of Uptown Manhattan. His keen wolf hearing senses my arrival, and he exchanges one view for another.

“Wow,” he breathes, his expression one of pure awe. “The marriage suits you. You’re gorgeous.”

“Stop sucking up,” I say with a playful smile as we slowly close the distance. “You know you’ll be getting a lot of sex tonight anyway.”

“I was just looking for a confirmation,” Garren replies with an innocent grin.

We laugh and hug, making the embrace extra tight and sensual at the same time. When we break apart, Garren pulls me in for a kiss. Our lips finally wrap around each other as I melt into his strong arms once again.

Marriage isn’t as important as our soulmate bond. It will make a difference in the way I’ll be treated in the higher circles, but it doesn’t change the way Garren and I love each other, which is unconditionally and eternally.

The kiss starts out slow and gentle. Garren’s hands massage my lower back as he holds me close to him. His mouth tastes amazing, his kisses alone drive me wild, making me want him even more. I lift my arms around his neck and pull him even closer to me, our bodies pressing firmly together.

Garren’s still wearing his royal uniform that’s now getting wet from my dripping body. The towel on me is getting loose as we keep moving our bodies around each other, even the slightest movement tugging at it. When it’s about to fall, he grabs the two ends and tucks them back in between my breasts. He’s in no rush to unwrap the present, and neither am I.

“How about we get into a more comfortable position?” he asks, his lips smiling against mine.

I nod and let him lead us over to the king-size bed. Garren helps me lie down before he lays down on his side next to me. We kiss once more, putting more wood to the fire burning between us. He runs his fingers through my dripping wet hair, and then rests them on my cheek, trailing a path down my jaw to my chin. He breaks the kiss by licking my lips.

“Wait a second,” he murmurs against my lips before pushing himself off the bed. He opens the drawer on the nightstand and pulls out a blindfold. “I have a little surprise for you. Wait here while I go get it.”

With the blindfold on, I grin. My whole body comes awake, my thoughts running in every possible direction as I try to figure out what could the surprise be. The truth is that Garren’s too unpredictable for me to even know what kind of a guess to make. Deciding to fully give in to him and his plans, I adjust my towel and lay on my back.
