Flirting was worth it, though, judging by how red he got. Christ, I’d been half-hard just from seeing him. It happened when I saw Bailey too, the brief couple of times I’d glimpsed her across the room.

I make up yet another flimsy excuse for why I can’t go to dinner with some of the friendlier crew members and finally make my way back up to the suite, breathing a sigh of relief the instant the door shuts behind me. The only sound in the suite comes from the shower in Drew’s room, bringing a wide smile to my face.

Finally.

Drew got dragged off into a conference room by his boss a little while ago, so I’m pretty sure it’s Bailey I’m about to pounce on. My breath comes faster as I imagine the scene I’m about to walk into—only to hear the water shut off and the heavy glass door slide open.

Damn. Shower sex will have to wait. I veer back to the kitchen and open a bottle of wine I find sitting on the counter. Pouring three glasses, I’ve only just taken a sip when Bailey peeks her head around the corner.

“You’re back!” she says, coming up to hug me from behind. I set the glass down and turn, scooping her up into my arms properly. Bailey whoops and squeezes her arms around my neck like she’s afraid I’ll drop her. As if.

“Missed you,” I murmur, breathing in the clean scent of her. Her hair is still wet, pulled back into a knot. I can’t resist tonguing an errant drop of water off her shoulder, and Bailey sighs.

“Missed you, too,” she whispers. “Now put me down before you hurt yourself.”

I laugh, setting her back on her feet. “Not likely, short stuff. How was your day?”

“Busy,” she says. “How about you?”

“Same,” I say, handing her a glass of wine and watching her take a drink. “I thought about you all day.”

“Yeah?” That makes her smile for some reason.

“Yeah,” I say. It didn’t occur to me while I was planning to seduce Bailey in the shower, but I realize I don’t know what the rules are for having two lovers at once. Is it copacetic to make a move on one of them if the other one’s not there?

Before I can come to any conclusion—besides the obvious priority to get Bailey naked ASAP—the lock beeps and Drew opens the door. Bailey’s smile gets wider. So does mine.

Only Drew’s not smiling at all.

“What’s wrong?” asks Bailey.

Drew tries a smile and fails spectacularly. I’ve never seen him look so down.

Defeated. That’s the word for it. I’ve never, not for a second, seen him look defeated before.

That’s the look on his face now—the sad, blank stare, the sluggish march across the room.

“What happened?” I ask. We’d bumped into each other not even an hour ago and he’d been fine. Whatever Ty had called him in for must have been one hell of a shock.

Drew plops down on the couch, elbows on his knees, his head in his hands.

“I need to talk to you,” he says.

“We’re right here,” says Bailey. She picks up two of the wineglasses, pressing one into Drew’s hand before sitting down next to him.

“I mean Cooper,” says Drew dully. He stares at the glass in his hand like he’s never seen one before. “Actually, it’s good you’re both here. You need to hear this too, Bailey. Maybe you can help me think of something.”

“You’re scaring me, Drew,” she says, waving me over. I take the seat on Drew’s other side; it seems like the sporting thing to do.

Feels strange sitting next to him like this. We’ve spent most of our time arguing or tearing off our clothes. The G-rated contact is… nice.

The memory of what we all did on the couch last night is having a not-G-rated effect on me, though, so I nudge Drew gently to get things moving along.

“What’s going on, D?”

Drew sets his wineglass on the coffee table, sitting back to stare at the ceiling.

“Remember the beginning of the finals ceremony Sunday?”
