And to think, I thought we might have had something. Sure, I saw the darkness in his gaze, but it wasn’t like the darkness I see in the eyes of my father and his men.

The darkness in the men around here has always repelled me. Disgusted me.

But the darkness in Ray’s eyes was different.

There was a mischievous intent to everything my Irish captor said and did. It was like this was one big game, and he was at the head of it all. The king.

Looking back on it, I can even see that he somehow managed to make me feel like I could be in on the joke. Like I could be the queen by his side who laughed at the darkness right along with him.

But then he threw aside his mask and showed me the true monstrosity of his mischievousness. It turns out I wasn’t allowed in on the joke. My life was just a set up for his punchline. My body just a pawn for his power grab.

For just a brief moment, he made me feel like I could belong in this darkness, like I could control it. And then he turned on the light, and showed me who was really in control.

Fuck.

There are tears welling up in my eyes as I limp over to my bedroom door and press my ear against the thick wood. Outside, I can hear the faint rhythm of footsteps. My prison guards.

They may be on heightened alert, but they’re still just a bunch of underpaid guys on night duty. I can tell by the cadence of their footsteps that they’re on auto-pilot.

As long as I’m quiet, I should be able to break out of here—if even only to grab an essential item that no one in my life can know I need.

The pills.

There’s a pharmacy a few blocks away that has my fake information on file. If I had my cell phone, I could text them for a refill and then go pick up my prescription as soon as I knew it was ready.

Now, though, I’m going to have to order that refill in person. That makes everything trickier. I don’t know how long that will take.

Plus, I’m not even entirely sure what waits for me outside. Just how much has Father increased security around our property?

If I was smart, I’d take a tour outside of my room first, just to get a look at the set up in advance, but the last thing I want to do is run into anybody out there.

And I’m not about to stay in my room for one second longer. I desperately need the distraction. I need some fresh air.

The dread and the sadness inside of me are numbing, but that’s only because another familiar feeling is pushing its way to the forefront of my mind.

Arousal.

Ever since Ray dropped me off, like I was some sort of disobedient dog he was returning to the pound, I’ve been fighting off the memories of what we shared.

That’s a struggle I can’t win.

His hands, his fingers, his touch. The way his tongue taught me, the way his body held me, the way his cock fucked me. I’ve been branded for life.

I’ll never forget the handsome older stranger. I’ll never be able to scrub away the memories of how he made me feel.

I’ll have to learn to live with it.

But right now, everything is still so fresh. I just need to get away from it, take a vacation before I get lost in his wicked pleasures.

Fuck. Even my legs still ache with a dull soreness. My pussy too. Not that it stops me from getting wet at random times throughout the day. I’ve already woken up twice with my hand between my legs. Hell, I’ve even mindlessly slipped a pillow down there every once in a while, just to have something rub against my begging clit.

The bastard has wormed his way into the very fabric of my being.

These birth control pills are my only resistance. Ray doesn’t want me to take them—so, fuck him, that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

I’ve already cleared away most of the boxes beneath my bed when I hear something that makes my heart freeze.

A knock at my bedroom door.
