Tytus.

Fuck. Has he betrayed his sister? Is he working with Leander?

My pounding heart kicks as I consider the worst.

No. I won’t let Roz get hurt. I can’t.

That’s how I lose her.

No matter what it takes, my fallen angel will be safe. And she will be mine again.

I’ll make sure of it.

… Even if that means killing her own brother.

“Remember what we talked about,” Drago says.

His scarred hand hovers above the door handle as we exchange one last knowing glance.

“I’ll be ready,” I nod.

“I know you will.”

I take a deep breath and Drago opens the door. I’m still not sure how to feel about all of this. But I do know one thing.

It’s too late to turn back now.

“Nice of you two to finally join us.”

Leander’s voice slithers through the darkness ahead, curling into my ears as we step into the sweltering greenhouse.

“… What is this place?” I mutter, sniffing up into the fragrant air.

The seemingly endless structure is filled with all types of exotic trees and plants and flowers. They rise up from the hidden corners of the impressive structure, expanding outwards like suffocating clouds. A thin smoky haze drifts along the floor. Pale moonlight drifts in through the glass ceiling above. I swear I hear crickets chirping.

A wide path cuts through the canopy. In the middle of it all is a single silhouette. A loathsome figure.

Leander Onasis.

“I’m not sure. This is my first time here,” Drago whispers. “Just stay ready.”

“Care to share your whispers with the classroom?” Leander teases. His voice is coated in a sickly-sweet charm. I already want to gag.

“We’re not here to play games,” Drago rumbles. Stepping in front of me, he takes a protective stance. “Where’s Tytus?”

“Right here.”

My brother’s voice comes from the shadows. For a moment, my hackles rise. But when he steps into the light, I can’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

I’m not alone.

Even if Drago might betray me, Tytus would never do such a thing.

“Is everything alright?” I ask. The implication in my words is clear. I don’t give a shit about this shady meet-up.
