“I’m listening,” I insist, doubtful that there’s anything Drago could say to change my mind—about him or his insulting plan.

Still, part of me is desperate to be proven wrong.

He is the man who raised me, after all.

“Leander is—”

Drago doesn’t get a chance to finish.

Before the first word is even out of his mouth, an all too familiar sound rips both of our attention over to the bedroom window.

“Was that a gunshot?” I ask, stunned.

Another crackle slashes through the silence.

My hackles rise.

This time, there’s no pause between the first shot and the second. Chaos erupts. Somewhere outside, it sounds like a bomb goes off.

Fuck.

My legs begin to tremble. And I can’t tell if it’s because I’m weak or if the vibrating has started again.

Either way, my heart drops.

It doesn’t matter.

He’s here.

Rian is here.

I’m not ready to face him again. Not after what I’ve been through. And definitely not with Drago around.

The bedroom door bursts open.

Tytus already has blood in his eyes.

“We have company.”

It’s immediately clear we’re not dealing with mobsters.

The fuckers fight too clean, too tightly. They might as well be a royal guard. Practically toy soldiers compared to the animals I’ve brought with me.

It’s disappointing.

Whatever army these men are a part of, it’s not the one Rozalia and Tytus supposedly have control over.

I’m sure of it.

These are just run-of-the-mill bodyguards—eye candy to help an insecure billionaire feel safe and look tough.

Well, he won’t be feeling safe now. Not if he’s in that house. We’ve already upended the driveway and shattered all the windows.

And we’re just getting started.
