Rozalia.

No one else would use a hologram. No one else could.

“You’re telling me the place is empty?”

“No,” I clarify, remembering the rifle upstairs. “Who knows what kinds of traps have been set. Send half a dozen men in. Tell them to be careful. They have my permission to shoot whatever moves.”

I’m not concerned for my prey’s safety anymore.

Now, I’m just angry.

Furious.

… And ecstatic.

Rozalia isn’t hurt. She’s not in danger. She’s not dead.

She’s just stubborn.

Our little game can continue.

“Understood,” Maksim responds. “I’ll go in with them, just to make sure.”

“I have another job for you,” I stop him. Shoving aside some ammo, I pull out my phone and increase its signal. Then, I send an encrypted code to Maksim’s phone. “Follow the signal I just sent you. You’ll be my eyes above ground. And my last resort. Bring some explosives. Get ready to use them. On my word, you’re going to set them off.”

“Rian, what’s happening?”

“I’m hunting.”

I’m unable to control my smirk. Even as I descend deeper into the unknown, all alone, I feel a new energy come over me.

This is fun.

I’m in my element. I have my advantage. I’m closing in on my prey.

The fear I’d had earlier—that this game of cat and mouse might have already come to an end—has been eviscerated.

The Black Cat isn’t so easily beaten.

But that doesn’t mean I’m not about to break her.

When I hit the last step of the basement stairs, I replace my phone with Rozalia’s remote.

The dial turns up to ten. My cock swells.

I lick my lips.

“You’re punishment has only just begun, kitten.”

Through the darkness ahead, I swear I hear the faintest echo of a yelp.

It’s her.

Keeping the remote grasped in my hand, I chase after the sound. It leads me to a rickety hatchway. The thing has barely been closed, and a stale breeze lifts from its uneven edges.

For such a nice house, this sure is a shit escape route.

It only bolsters the mystery behind Rozalia’s choice in partners even more.
