Cooper inhaled and exhaled slowly. He wanted this woman. Each moment he spent in her presence made her more appealing. He wanted to share her with Zane. This was likely a bad idea, but he said, “We have enough.”

“Even if it’s fifty thousand dollars?”

“Yes. Even if it’s that much. I’ll bail you out tomorrow. On the way here, Zane told me that he wanted to ensure you were freed on bond, whatever it took.”

Tears spilled over her lower eye lids. “Really? Whatever it took? That’s very nice.”

“Yes. So don’t worry.”

“Thank you so much.” She pulled her wrists from his grasp and sent her arms around his neck. She kissed him on the mouth again lightly. “I appreciate what you both are doing for me.”

Cooper resisted the urge to kiss her again, although he truly wanted to, and said, “You can thank me by not running off anywhere after I pay your bail. How’ll that be?”

The sweet sound of her laughter echoed in the room. “They took my only vehicle. I promise you, I don’t have anywhere to go or anyway to get there.”

“Once you’re free tomorrow, we can drive you to your home.”

“What if I don’t want to stay there?”

“Then you can stay with me and Zane.”

“Are you sure? Won’t that be a conflict of interest?”

“No more so than what Duke just caught us doing. I’ll tell him after speaking to me tonight that you’ve decided you want the public defender. Trust me, it won’t be a shock. Tomorrow, once we’re in Miser, ask for the public defender. And we’ll simply say I counseled you initially because we’re very good friends.”

“Okay. Good.” Her stance relaxed. “I’m starting to get the distinct idea that Zane was used just like I was. I acted without thinking in my anger at him this morning. I should have realized he could be innocent, especially after I saw his expression when I accused him.”

Cooper laughed. “I wish I could have seen it myself. Don’t worry. Zane is pretty understanding.” Well, with women anyway.

“I probably owe him a huge apology for accusing him in a public forum of being a low-life, dirty, scumbag thief.”

“Given that the only reason I’m here is because of him, I’d say he’s willing to forgive and forget. The truth is that while I’m a licensed attorney, I don’t practice much anymore. But I wouldn’t have come here for anyone but Zane.”

“Why is that?”

He smiled. “Because of all the low-life, dirty, scumbag, thieving clients I used to have to represent.”

She laughed. “Well, I’m glad you made the exception for me, and I’m anxious to get out of here to tell Zane how sorry I am for everything. I should have mentioned it earlier.”

“We’ll have plenty of time. Are you going to be okay here for the night?” He saw that Duke had given her a pile of clothing. What looked like a T-shirt and sweat pants were piled on a chair in the far corner.

She nodded.

“Do you need anything else?” She glanced at his mouth for a few seconds then her focus traveled up to his eyes.

She shook her head. “Thank you for everything. And tell Zane I’m sorry.”

“You can tell him tomorrow. He’ll likely go with us.”

“Maybe he shouldn’t.”

“Why?”

“Because his name is on the paperwork. What if someone is looking for him, too?”

He shook his head. “Don’t worry. It will be fine.”

She stared at his mouth again. Cooper backed up a step using every bit of willpower in his command.

“Duke,” he called out, “I’m ready to go.”

Abigail took that opportunity to wrap her arms around his neck and kiss him for all he was worth, before whispering against his lips, “By the way, I am interested in being shared by the two of you. We can discuss that tomorrow, as well.”

Chapter Six

Abby had obviously gone completely daft since her imprisonment. She’d spent the night thinking about what might happen in a bedroom with two men, namely Zane and Cooper.

What would they want? What did she want? What would they do? What did she want them to do? A plethora of sexual visions pranced through her dreams all night long, vying to answer that last question. Each time she woke up during the night, she was a little bit more aroused.
