He winked at her and she laughed. “Okay, it’s a deal.”

Adam squeezed Ivan on the shoulder. “Hey, you can stay with me and Amy for a while, okay. Until you acclimatise.”

He gazed at Adam pensively. “Thanks, buddy. But actually, I’m not sticking around.”

“What?” Mrs Quinlan said. “Where are you going?”

He put his arm around his mom and hugged her. “I’ll be back soon, I promise. But I’m going to find Samira. To tell her I love her.”

“But where is she, Ivan?” Joseph asked.

He held his little brother’s gaze with a cocky grin. “Well, Joe – that’s precisely what I intend to find out...”
