*wink wink*

Shaking my head, I can’t help but smile and be mortified at the same time by the words on the note. Frannie is so going down. There is no way he could have found out I call him that. Oh my god, I groan covering my face. This is going to be a thing for him.I get up, shower and begin getting ready. Noting that I have just under thirty minutes before I need to be downstairs. Making myself a cup of coffee, my mind starts going over the night before and I moan with the memory as I squeeze my legs together. Suddenly, I am brought out of my daydream by the ringing of my phone. Pulling it out, and hoping it is him, I roll my eyes when I finally hear the ringtone that lets me know it is my parents. Ignoring them, I grab my purse and walk out the door.

“Ma’am,” the driver greets me.

“Please, just call me Esther,” I say getting into the car as he holds the door open for me. Laying my head back against the seat, I try to get my mind to focus on my second day of work. But how can I when I can feel the moment his cock entered me, making me his. The possessive way he held my hands above my head as his eyes were piercing into mine. In that moment he shared his pain and his hopes with me without words. Shit. I should really get my mind together. I start fanning myself to try and calm the sweating from the heat radiating from my body. Deciding to roll down the window, hoping, some fresh air will help.

“Ma’am...Esther, are you ok?” he asks, his voice filled with concern.

“I am fine. Just a bit…warm.” Slanting my head downward, hopefully to hide the blush spreading over my whole body. Before I know it, we are pulling up to the office. I thank him once again for bringing me and walking into my job.

“Good morning. How may I help you?” the girl at the desk asks me, her face sweet and kind. She is different from the one yesterday.

“Good morning. My name is Esther…”

“Oh yes. I am so sorry. Miss Van Adams, please come with me.” Her voice is frenzied and almost frantic sounding. Hmmm. I wonder what that is all about. I am the new girl. Hell, I should be the one unsure and nervous. “Mr. Kilworth is waiting for you.” She walks away, not bothering to look back at me. Huh. She must be shy.

“There she is. My new best girl.” Oook. I think, not sure what to say back. Moving from behind his desk, he ushers me to the one that is kiddie corner to his and is decked out with a brand-new MAC desktop, a vase of Calla Lilies, and a pitcher of something I believe to be tea.

“Wow.” I say, feeling a bit uneasy, hoping that he does this for all new employees.

“I’m glad you like it.” I jump, his breath only inches from my neck. I am now confused and unsure of what to say about the desk, and in the process, I missed him moving next to me. I inch forward a bit, needing to put more distance between us, without offending him.

“Yes, it’s lovely. But you really didn’t have to go through so much trouble. I am merely your assistant. Not even at this point, due to the fact I haven’t even finished training yet.” I tell him, trying to acknowledge what he did without having to feign...something I don't feel.

“My assistant.” he says with a bit of humor. I fail to get the joke until he follows it up with, “We both know it's a bit more than that.” His hand is unassumingly sliding from my waist, before moving back to his desk. “Lara is waiting for you in HR,” he says nonchalantly. His face is pointing back down to whatever work he was doing, like nothing just happened. Leaving his office swiftly, I shiver. Feeling all types of icky from him being so close to me, and then he touched me no less. Fuck. Maybe Duke was right. No. No, Esther. You can deal with this. You just have to make it clear you are not interested, and he will back off and then you can learn your job. My confidence returns and I continue with my day.

By noon I am mentally exhausted. They have thrown a lot at me in such a little amount of time. Before I know it, lunch time is here. Deciding I need to get away from the office for a bit, I walk down to the little cafe. My phone starts ringing as I am placing my order. I already know who it is of course. Shit. Might as well answer it. “Mother.”
