“Come on, kiddo.” Andy lifted Meri up to his shoulder. “Let’s go find your Auntie Kat. I think you deserve an ice cream.”

Craig once more gave his friend the side eye but quickly brushed it off. Kat had always been the annoying little sister to both of them growing up. Something had obviously changed.

He focused on his fiancée and pulled her into his arms for a not-so-sneaky kiss for everyone to see. Just the way it should be.

“I love that you’re going to be my wife.”

“I love you.” She smiled and touched his lips with her finger. “And for the record, this was all pretty perfect. Thank you for today.”

“No, Lucy. Thankyou.For crashing into our lives the way you did and for taking a chance on some random dude who hired you to be a nanny when all you wanted to do was scoop ice cream.”

She tossed her head back and laughed. “I still kind of want to scoop ice cream.”

“You do?”

“I mean, maybe once or twice.” She laughed. “But I’m not worried about what comes next, Craig. Because the only important thing is that we’re together. The three of us.”

“Just three?” He wiggled his eyebrows. “Because I think maybe having a?—”

“Simmer down.” She smacked his arm playfully. “One thing at a time. We’re barely even engaged. Besides, all the fun is in thepracticing.” She winked. “Come on, let’s go mingle a little bit and then you can take me home for a little of that practicing.”

He happily let her lead him back to into the party. “Like you said, sweetheart. Practice makes it all better.”
