“What?”

“Yes.” He pulled her arm’s length from him, looking into her eyes. She could feel his intensity wrapped in mirth. “Yes, now that I think about it. You were the vixen all along weren’t you?” His thumb rubbed her cheek. The tenderness was almost her undoing. But first she needed to set him straight.

“I did not make the first move. And that wasn’t a kiss.”

“It was a kiss. Your lips touched my eye. Therefore, kiss. And,” —he raised his finger into the air— “if I recall correctly, you were the one who drew my attention to Sally and Jacob first. So yes, you were the initiator this entire time. Perhaps you did a wonderful job snaring a duke after all.”

“It is.” And she wanted to debate it more, except he was sliding her frock off her shoulders, placing soft kisses against her neck, and down her shoulder.

“Yes, it is.”

“It’s beginning to sound like you will agree with me no matter what I say right now.”

“Yes, I agree,” he murmured, giving more kisses. And then adding a few nips back up her neck.

“Are you going to get carried away or are you going to go looking for that mole?”

“I have the time to find that mole later. For now, I’ll get carried away into the heavens with my goddess.”
