“Fuck,” Jennifer replied. “She’s out of jail?”

“For the moment,” I said. “She still has to attend a hearing… hopefully, the judge will review all the evidence I have against her and see that it’s in the best interest of the public to put her away or at least get her lasting treatment.”

“You have enough evidence against her,” Jennifer pointed out.

“Her father is a powerful man though.”

“So are you,” Jennifer replied.

I smiled. “I’m not used to bribing people for what I want,” I said. “Whatever I’ve achieved has been through hard work and fair play.”

“Then stick to your guns,” Jennifer advised. “And pray that justice will be served this time around.”

I sighed. “I’m not a praying man, Jen,” I said. “But for this… I’ll pray.”
