Levi narrowed his eyes on me like I was a fucking moron, and he wasn’t far off, because of course the guy was Levi’s brother—he was the spitting image of him.

“How was I supposed to know the brother that was coming to visit you was your twin brother?” I ran a hand through my hair, totally thrown off my game as I stared into the exact same face as the man still standing outside my door. This face however, was scowling, and much more Levi than the nervous version I’d been about to kiss a couple of seconds ago.

“You weren’t.” Levi eyed me as though he was equal parts disgusted and disappointed. “But of all the guys, I figured you would be the one to tell us apart. Now, are you going to move or continue the amazing first impression you’re making here?”

Firmly put in my place, I stepped aside, shame heating my face as Levi looked to his brother and gestured him to come inside. As he went to walk by, Liam glanced at me from under his hat and offered up a half-smile.

“Sorry for the confusion. It’s really, uh…nice to meet you. I’m a huge fan.”

If I could’ve crawled under a rock, I would’ve. Instead, with Levi all but glaring a hole through me over his brother’s shoulder, I plastered on my most winning smile and waved it off.

“Nah, it’s all good. Nothing to be sorry for. If anything, I should be apologizing.” I looked to Levi and added, “It was an innocent mistake.”

Liam nodded. “It happens all the time with people who don’t know us.”

Levi’s spine stiffened, and I knew exactly what he was thinking. I should’ve known. If I was as into him as I said I was, I should’ve known. But come on, I was recovering from a late night, ten million drinks, and…and…yeah, Levi’s expression as he turned to follow his brother inside the suite told me that those excuses were not gonna cut it.

Just when I thought we’d moved forward two steps, I’d taken three massive ones back. At this rate I’d be lucky if Levi looked my way the rest of the day, let alone gave me a chance to get him alone to apologize.

Levi

MY HEAD HAD been killing me ever since I woke this morning, but courtesy of that little shitshow in the hall with Killian and Liam, it was now throbbing like a sonofabitch.

Still fuming over what I had walked in on, I barely said a word as I directed my brother into Killian’s suite, where the guys were sprawled out like a Mack truck had just run them all over. They looked…well, about as good as I felt. Slade hadn’t even made it to a couch and was spread out on the floor as though his legs had collapsed from right under him, and Halo and Viper both wore sunglasses to shield their eyes—much like I had.

Killian’s suite had a wall of windows overlooking the Yarra River, and right now the sun was lighting up the room as though it were inside, adding a piercing, eye-watering pain to the headaches we were already sporting.

“Um…” As we stopped just outside the circle of…dead, Liam leaned into my side and whispered, “Are you sure it’s okay I’m here? I don’t want to bug them when—”

“Good morning, guys,” I said, much more chipper than I felt, not about to let my brother’s first meeting with one of his favorite bands be anything other than awesome. “I see you all got my memo and we’re all up bright and early?”

“Jesus, Levi,” Viper said. “Can you maybe lower your voice about three million decibels? It’s bad enough you made us get up at the crack-ass of dawn after Kill’s birthday, now you’re gonna be talking all loud and shit.”

“It’s noon. And I’m talking at a normal volume, so how about you down some coffee and become human for me?” My eyes fell to Slade, who was eyeing me and Liam with a confused look on his face.

“Okay, so I know I drank a lot last night, but I’m totally seeing two of you right now.”

I rubbed the bridge of my nose. “You’re not seeing double.” Moron. “I got you guys up because my brother and Imogen are coming in today. I wanted you all decent to meet them, but clearly that boat has sailed when it comes to Liam.” I looked to my brother. “I apologize for these guys who all drank too much last night and—”

“It’s fine,” Liam said, shooting me a look that said drop it.

“You have a twin brother?” Jagger got to his feet as Killian came back into the room to join his bandmates. “You didn’t tell us that.”

I shrugged, not about to cop to the fact that I might’ve left out that important detail. There was no way I was letting Killian feel as though he had justification for trying to kiss the wrong damn brother—idiot.
