“Sometimes I just pretend to sleep to listen to you floundering.” Teddy
smirked. “Are you ready for the Star Treks?”
“There’s more than one?”
“Let’s find out!” Teddy squawked.
“Please don’t.” Jacob started.
“Well, whatever was in that coffee certainly worked.” Teddy cawed. “He said love!” Jacob said. “No one…This isn’t how this should work
is it?”
“You brewed it, you should have prepared for this.”
“Oh god- That’s a loaded word. I don’t- I’ve never had-” Teddy looked
at him confused - or at least as confused as a seagull can get. “No one ever said they loved you before?”
“Not like that. Not like- not like an honest thing. Oh god, I think he

realizes it’s all been a ruse? What if this is all just my great big stupid gay

“Maybe it is.” Teddy said, wrapping one wing around his shoulder.
“That would make you a pretty shitty person Jacob.”
“Oh god. It really would.” Jacob said as he slowly pulled himself off the
ground. “How do I stop it?”
“You’d have to want to stop it.” Teddy sighed. “And you don’t want to
stop it, do you?”
“No! I don’t…I just…I didn’t want this to be real.” Jacob shook his
head. “You know what I mean!”
“Do I?” Teddy pondered. “I’m just a bird…”
“I have to make this right.” Jacob responded.
“How?” Teddy asked. “Are you going to make the brew go away? Are
you going to try to make him love you for real? What’s your plan here?” “I’m going to watch a movie for him.” He sighed.
“Enjoy it.”
“Maybe if I’m lucky it’ll kill me.”
The movie did not kill him, but a part of him absolutely died watching
