of it real? Was this even him? Who was he at all?
Jacob went to the soda machine and poured himself a small splash of
diet, when suddenly he could feel something coming over him. Perhaps it was his own confusion but he could feel his thoughts being
compelled. He wanted control. He wanted order. He wantedsomething
more. He wanted the truth- the full and actual truth. And before he knew
it, he was making a drink.
“Oh no…” Jacob could feel it beginning and he began to press the
different buttons until the concoction in his cup was experimental and
brown. It looked terrible- but smelled delicious. He realized he couldn’t
share this with Joe. It would be wrong. He didn’t even know what he had
brewed.
He put it down and examined it. It looked normal but something about
it felt…off. He decided that perhaps it would be best to just throw it out.
But he had just paid for the cup…
Before he could throw it out, a hand snaked its way into his and grabbed
the drink. In a quick swig, before he could stop it, Joe had already taken a
drink.
“I couldn’t wait. I just wanted to see you again.” Joe said as he wiped
his lips.
“Sorry, I was out to get you a drink and-” Jacob began, but was
interrupted.
“You’ve been out here for ten minutes. The film is about to start. I
didn’t want you to miss anything.”
“I’ve been out here for ten minutes?” Jacob was shocked. “At least.” Joe said as the theatre rumbled to life. “I was gettingworried
so I wanted to-”
“That was ten minutes ago?” Jacob asked. The time had passed so
quickly he hadn’t even considered that the time he spent brewcasting
would be going any other speed than normal. “Are you okay?” Joe asked. “Yeah, of course. Thanks for checking on me.”
“Of course. That’s what lovers do!” Joe said.
