“Come on, I don’t want you to miss the first scene. It’s crazy!” Joe rushed
into the theatre as bursts of cheers erupted from the crowd. “Yay! Can’t
wait…” Jacob sighed as he looked to Teddy for some kind of support. “Well he drank it.” Teddy stated.
“He’ll be okay right?”
“No fucking idea.” Teddy cawed.
“Great.” Jacob sighed as he grabbed a pack of candy and followed him
in.
The movie was what Jacob expected. Nerds in space and technology and
shooty bang bangs. It wasn’t his cup of tea, but he hadn’t hated it. Joe’s experience however was slightly different. At first he was excited
and watching Jacob react to everything seemed to be more fun to him than
watching the film. At first it was almost exciting, but as the soda dwindled
his expression dulled as he appeared to sink deeper in thought. He became
quieter and quieter until he wasn’t whispering at all.
“Are you okay? You’ve gone quiet.” Jacob finally whispered after what
seemed like a very important thing just happened.
“I just…” Joe began before stopping himself and turning his attention
back to the screen. Jacob didn’t like this. His non-words were even more
concerning than his previous oversharing.
“Oh lord…What did I do?” He asked Teddy.
“Lord if I know, but you’ve still got about six hours of movie left.”
Teddy paused. “Or maybe days?”
“Fuck.” Jacob began, when a pair of nerds on either side of him shushed
him. He slunk into his chair and frowned. A part of him was worried he’d
ruined the only good thing he had- if he ever really had him. The other
part of him was worried that he’d done something terrible. Both sides of
him hated what he’d done, but even more than that, he was worried that
he’d lost it.
