The door slamming ismy first sign something’s wrong.

A journalist, such as myself, has these stellar powers of observation.

I rush out to the living room to find it empty. Maybe Cally went out to the car to get something.

Then I look out my front window and down the street to see a red Volkswagen pulling into the spot where we’d parked.
