“I can explain—” Reid starts.
Wes raises his hand, effectively cutting Reid off.
“I thought Blaire was just trying to stir up trouble. But it’s true. You’re sleeping with—Jesus Christ.”
He looks at me, then at the ceiling, then back to Reid and Miles.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he snaps. “You’re sleeping with all three of them?”
“Wes—” I begin.
“No.” He points at me, then at Miles. “Absolutely not. What the fuck happened to basic boundaries? You’re my sister.” His eyes flash toward Reid. “And you’re supposed to be my friend.”
“You told me nothing was going on,” Wes continues, voice rising. “You looked me in the eye and said it wasn’t like that. You fucking lied to me.”
He spits the word out.
“It’s nothing, Wes,”my brother snarls, apparently mimicking Reid.
I flinch. Reid said it was nothing? Part of me knows that it was probably just a lie to throw my brother off the scent. But it still hurts.
Reid sees the change in my expression and he goes from defensive to stricken. “Lola?—”
He steps toward me with panic in his eyes.
“It’s not,” he says. “It’s not nothing. It’s so fucking far from nothing, Lola.”
He glances at Wes, then back to me.
“I said that because we hadn’t figured out what it was yet. It was new and I didn’t want to screw it up before we’d even started. I was just trying to avoid the fallout. This has never been nothing, baby.”
“Baby?” Wes opens his mouth to unleash more anger, but he’s cut off by another voice.
My life may as well be scripted in hell. Because not only is my brother here moments after the most amazing sex of my life, so isGigi.
“Oops. Sorry, just came to drop off Lola’s mail. Didn’t know there was a party going on.”
Reid’s head turns so fast I think something in his neck might snap. “Get the fuck out of this house, Gigi, before I file a goddamn restraining order.”
Gigi lets out a bored scoff. “Jesus, calm down. I didn’t realize things were so sensitive over here.”
“It’s really sweet, though.” Her gaze skates over me. “All of this. It’s so super...open-minded.”
I don’t say anything. I think if I open my mouth right now, I’m pretty sure I’m going to scream things at her that don’t make any sense.
“Gigi, you really need to leave right now. Do not make me ask you again." Reid is so riled up I’m afraid he’s going to lunge at her.
“Whatever. And, by the way, you’re not as hot as you think you are,” Gigi retorts.
She turns before anyone can respond and walks out, muttering something under her breath.
Reid turns back and catches my hand in his, bringing it to his mouth and pressing a kiss to my palm. It steadies me.
But I only get a second to breathe before Wes sees another box in the hall with my name on it.
And that’s when everything fully explodes. The betrayal Wes feels is no longer just simmering beneath the surface. It’s a full volcanic eruption.
“You’re moving in?”
