“They might try, but I doubt they’d make it very far. I promise I’ll keep your secret. I’m just glad you’re not some forty-year-old perv.” Parker threw back his head to laugh.

When he brought his head down his eyes landed on her. With fascination, she watched as they grew darker. Slowly, she guessed so she could say no, he lowered until his lips brushed against hers. As if she would ever say no.

When she didn’t protest, he swept her bottom lip with his tongue. She immediately opened to him, knowing if circumstances were different, she would open even more.

He devoured her for a few minutes before he suddenly sat up. She kept her eyes closed for a few more seconds relishing the feel of Parker’s mouth on hers, his taste mingling with hers. When she did open her eyes she took in the shock covering his face.

“Fuck, I’m sorry,” he said, quickly climbing off her. “I didn’t…” Reaching down, he picked up his bag. “I’m going to head out, I need to set up for tonight,” he said. “I’ll see you later.”

She lay in the bed with a smile on her face. She knew Parker would freak out about this, but she refused to think of it as anything but amazing.

“You’ll see me in a couple of hours. I’m on shift tonight.”

“Oh, okay,” He looked everywhere but at her. “Yeah, if you don’t feel like it, I’ll understand.”

“No, I feel much better today.”

“Okay, good.” Parker stood next to the door of Astrid’s room as he stole a glance at her. “I need to go.”

She listened as his boots stomped down the stairs and the heavy front door closed with a bang. She lay back, and couldn’t help but laugh. Yep, he was completely freaked out.

She couldn’t wait until tonight. Would she let him pretend nothing happened? Would she spend the evening torturing him unmercifully? Would he remember to put on his pants before he went outside?

ChapterTen

“Bro,you’re going to wear a hole in the bar if you keep doing that.” Parker looked over at Liam. He had a smirk on his face. “You’ve been staring out the front window, wiping that same spot for at least fifteen minutes.”

Standing up straight, Parker looked over at Ronan who nodded his head in agreement.

“What did you do this time?” Ronan asked.

“I’m the older brother, remember? You don’t need to know everything I do.” Glancing at his watch, he realized he had been standing there for closer to twenty minutes, staring into space. He only had an hour until time to open and he needed a plan for how to deal with Astrid. There were three options.

First, he could just ignore the fact that he kissed her. It was a bullshit move. He could still feel her lips on his and the way she squirmed under him.

Second, he could simply apologize for crossing the line and promise never to do it again. But he wasn’t sure he could keep his hands off of her now. He’d never wanted a woman this bad.

Of course, there was always option three. Go for it and see what happens. Chances were good it would probably end after summer when she returned to school, but it would be amazing while it lasted. If–when she left him, would he be the only one with a broken heart?

Wait, where did that come from? Granted, it had been a while since he’d dated, but he’d never had a problem walking away in the past. Then again, none of those women were Astrid. He had never fallen hard for any of them. He had never envisioned the future every time he looked at one of them.

“Dude, you’re doing it again,” Liam said.

“Fuck,” Parker said, tossing down his bar towel. “I’ll be in the back counting out the drawer.” He could hear the little asses laughing as he stomped down the hallway to his office.

Slumping down in his chair, he took a deep breath. Something was going to have to happen either way. He couldn’t go through the rest of the summer in a permanent daze.

Checking his watch, he figured he still had a few minutes until he needed to be back out front. He opened the laptop on the desk in front of him and pulled up the search engine. What was it she said she had?

He typed endometriosis in and scrolled slowly through the numerous articles. He had just moved on to the best sexual positions with the condition when there was a loud knock on the door.

“Stop jacking off in there and come open up,” Liam yelled through the door. “Everyone’s waiting on you.”

“I’m coming, hold on.”

“That’s what we’re afraid of,” Liam yelled back.

Parker slammed the laptop closed. Quickly opening the safe, he arranged the money in the drawer before crossing to the door. He jerked it open to find Liam standing outside with the same smirk as earlier.
