Ryan wrapped me in his arms and took me straight into the air as he twirled around. When he set me back down on my toes, he looked around at the place, less full of dust and mold and coming together. “I told you, Lu, we got this.”
“We got this,” I repeated, not caring that I was sweating all over him as I looked around my tiny, forming shop.
It was all happening. This time, I wasn’t going to stop it. This was a life I’d hardly imagined for myself, yet here I was. Every day, I slowly felt as if I was filling it up with more love. From Ryan. From the coven. From the house and all the hope it held, now and in its future, and from myself.
We all had a little magic in us, and ready or not, we were going to use it.
A small gasp caught our attention from the doorway leading to the back room. Faith held up a paint roller in one hand, her eyes wide with excitement.
“He got the job?” Faith squealed.
Pulling back from one another, all smiles, we both nodded. We knew what was coming the moment Faith started sprinting on her teeny tiny heels toward us, already starting to laugh.
“Congratulations!”
