I stopped her with a kiss. “Lennox, I’m fine. I’m just happy to be out of there.”
She huffed a breath as her hands squeezed my shoulders. “You might be fine, but I’m not.”
My grip on her tightened. “Lennox?—”
“When you started screaming…I was there, Luka. I had her talons in my mind—knowing she was doing the same to you…” She shuttered, her entire body convulsing.
“But I’m fine now.”
“If you ever do something like that again…” Her eyes narrowed into slits.
“You’ll what?”
“I’ll—I’ll kill you myself.”
“You love me too much to kill me, Sweetheart.” I pulled her closer, burying my face in her neck.
“You’re lucky my love for you outweighs my rage.”
“Lennox.” He leveled his gaze with mine. “I’m sorry for putting you through that, but I wouldn’t let you endure that again. It was my turn to sacrifice myself. You’ve put your own life on the line too many times to count. I was due for a turn.”
I sighed. “I don’t like that logic.”
“Well that’s too damn bad.” I hummed against her skin as I kissed my way down to her collarbone. “It’s my job as your husband and your mate to protect you.”
“Since I allowed you to protect me this time, I think you owe me something in return.”
I nipped at her shoulder. “Is that right?”
“Mmhm,” she murmured as her hands grasped my shirt. “And I happen to have the perfect thing in mind.”
“I bet my idea is better than yours.”
“Prove it,” she taunted.
I released her, shucking off my clothes before moving to the bed and reclining on my back.
“What are you doing?”
“Sit on my face.”
Her mouth fell open before curving into a smile. “Your idea is way better than mine.” She made quick work of discarding her own close before straddling my face, her knees falling on either side of my head as she lowered herself down.
I braced my hands on her thighs, pulling her down until I was suffocated by her.
