“What’s my punishment?” he asked, bringing his arms around me.
I tsked him and tried to break out of his hold, but it was no use. “Your punishment is that you can look, but you can’t touch!” I swatted his hand, and he groaned against my ear, dragging my body closer to his. I could feel his hardness pressing into me.
“That’s the last thing that I want,” he whispered. It sent shivers down my spine.
I cleared my throat and tried to school my face into a smirk. “That’s why it’s called a punishment.” I sprinted from his arms. I turned around when I reached the end of the hall. He was beautiful, but there was a predatory gleam in his eyes.
“You shouldn’t have run from me, Eva,” he said as he slowly stalked toward me. My heart was thundering in my chest. I held out my hand to stop him from approaching me further. He took my hand and gently kissed my fingers. My eyes fluttered shut at his touch.
I opened my eyes and saw that he was pleased with himself. I snatched my hand back and held it to my chest. “I told you, you’re allowed to look but not touch.”
“But you’re so delicious, I can’t seem to help myself,” his voice trailed off as he got closer to me. He reached down and grabbed my thighs, picking me up. He pressed me against the door, leaning in to skim his lips across my neck. I fought to keep my mind clear.
I shook my head. “Ah, ah! You’re breaking all the rules.”
“I like to break the rules, for you.”
He leaned in close to me, and I turned my head to the side. I could feel his breath on my neck as he kissed me.
Suddenly, the door that I was pressed into opened. The next thing I knew, we were falling onto the floor. Matthew had tried, and awkwardly failed, to twist our bodies’ last minute so that he would take the brunt of the fall. I landed on the ground with a thud, but thankfully he had cradled my head so that it didn’t hit the hard ground.
“What the – "
“MATT!”
I heard a deep voice boom behind me. My eyes were closed, and I felt Matthew’s body tense.
“Fuck,” he swore. I slowly opened my eyes and was greeted by a very large man towering over me.
“Is this her?” He nudged my shoulder with his foot. What the hell was going on?
Matthew had leaped up and pushed the man back slightly. “Don’t touch her like that,” he snarled.
The huge brute only laughed. I quickly sat up and leaned against a wall near the door. I must have hit my head after all. This was an illusion of some sort. I shook my head to clear it. When I looked back up, both men were staring at me like there was something wrong with me.
The large, unknown man had his head cocked to the side, studying me as if I was some sort of monster. If I could have inched further away, I would have. He had a strangely intense face with sharp features. His eyes were a striking blue, and he had shaggy, blond hair that was pulled away from his face.
I glanced between Matthew and the giant. Neither of them was speaking, only staring. It was driving me crazy.
“What? What is it? Why aren’t you speaking to me?!” I yelled. The giant only laughed and slapped Matthew on the back.
“Two minutes, I win.” His lips curled into a smile as he continued to laugh. He turned around and found a stool amongst the rubble and sat down, the poor chair groaning in protest.
I kept my eyes on Matthew, who had said nothing but was chuckling to himself. “She hasn’t really lost it yet–she hasn’t even tried to beat me up.”
“Stop talking about me like I’m not here.”What was wrong with both of them?
I jumped to my feet and reached for the door. Matthew beat me there before I had time to register what was going on. He peered down at me. “Where are you going, Eva?”
“I’m leaving.” I slammed my fist into his chest, and he circled his arms around me, pulling my body close to his.
I relaxed slightly as he rested his chin on the top of my head. “Three minutes. And I’m the winner since she hit me.”
I scowled and begun beating my fists on his arms. “Let me go!”
“Where are your manners, darling? We have a guest.”
“A guest that you haven’t introduced me to and that you’re talking to like I don’t exist.”
