“You were… looking out for me?”

I was starting to think it was more than that. That he liked me. That he wanted me.

To be honest, I’d noticed him right away too. He was fifteen years older though, and I’d never dated an older man. He was gorgeous though. Muscular, square jawed and with dark blue eyes that were almost too pretty for his face.

His lashes alone would put any girls to shame.

“Something like that,” he growled, refusing to look at me. “Drink your water.”

“Why?”

He turned to me, something undefinable blazing fiercely in his deep, blue eyes.

“Because when I kiss you, I want you to remember it.”

My jaw opened slightly and I hastily took a sip of the water, unable to look away. He smiled a little, his eyes dropping to my lips. I stared at his mouth. He was clean shaved but I imagined on most days he had a little bit of stubble. He gripped my chin and tilted it up as he brought his face closer.

His lips came crashing down on mine. Firm, hard and insistent. He nudged my mouth open and his tongue swept inside. I felt it all the way down to my core, my body responding instantly. I was hot and cold and… I was getting wet, just from the kiss.

Flannery put all the boys I’d ever kissed to shame.

“So what do you think,” he asked, looking down at me. “Will you remember that?”

I nodded slowly, hoping he would kiss me again.

“I’m staying at the house tonight. Are you?”

I nodded again.

“Come up to my room.”

I stared at him, in awe of the masterful way he was taking charge of me.

“I have to warn you, I won’t be satisfied with one night.”

“You won’t?”

He smiled tenderly at me.

“No. I want more.”

“Okay.”

“I hope you have good endurance, little miss Becky,” he said as he took my hand and tugged me back towards the house.

“What? Why?”

His hand slid down my back to cup my ass and I nearly stumbled. He just kept going, guiding me through the wedding guests until we were in the house and heading up the stairs. He took one stair at a time, using a cane with the hand that wasn’t pressed against my lower back.

“I might be crippled, darlin’,” he said. “But not where it counts.”
