As we’re all telling Pa our goodbyes, my phone dings with a text from Jane letting me know she got home fine.

Chapter 11

Jane

Sunday morning brunch this week included Nicky grilling me about the details of my conversation with the guys about seeing where things will go and his deflecting all my attempts to get information about him and Ry. I can see he’s completely smitten and probably has a similar look on his face as I do when talking about the guys. I’m just glad they understand and can accept my relationship with Nicky. He really is my ride or die.

The man needs to realize I know his tells and I can tell there is something going on with him and Ry. I really hope there is because my bestie needs a good man like that. Maybe then he’ll not ask every single detail of what’s going on with me and my Weston men. It’s hard to tell him when I’m still working on accepting things myself. To have not one, but three amazing guys wanting to have a relationship with me is still hard to grasp. Not only are they three of the sexiest men alive, but they’re also good men with strong beliefs and a sense of family. Maybe one of these days, I’ll understand what they see in me and why they want to share.

Since today’s brunch couldn’t last all day because Nicky has to work, I stop by the store and pick up stuff for next week. After returning the cart to the cart corral because I’m not an animal, I hear my phone ping in my pocket with an incoming text.

Unknown:Hey, beautiful, it’s Rory. Got myself this newfangled phone. Looking forward to dinner tomorrow night. Want me to bring anything?

Loving that he texts just like he writes his letters, I quickly respond for him to just bring himself and any beer he might want to drink. Backing up and heading out of the parking lot toward home, I start to feel like someone is following me. Making a few extra turns on my way home, I don’t see any vehicles behind me and realize that my mind might be slightly warped by what I read. This is real life and no one from the cartel is ever going to be following me home. “Just perfect, Jane. You’re really starting to imagine shit now.”

Pulling into my driveway, I see something leaning against my door. One of the things that drew me to this cottage was its welcoming porch and red door. Walking up to the porch, I see it’s a bouquet of flowers. When I get on the porch, I notice that it’s a bouquet of white roses and white lilies. What an odd combination. Who would send this combination to me? I grab the card that’s with it. It has my name on the front of the envelope, so it’s not a mistaken delivery. Opening the card leaves me with more questions. What the fuck? The only writing on the card isFor my Angel.

Opening my phone, I send off a group text to Jon, Juan, and Rory. I snap a pic of the flowers and ask them if they sent them. Within a few seconds, my phone dings. Before I can read the messages, it rings. I answer it and Juan starts talking on the other end.

“Baby, we’re less than ten minutes away. We were just finishing errands and getting ready to head over to Ma and Pa’s.”

“You guys don’t have to come over. I just don’t know who sent the flowers or what the card means. I’m already in the house and everything is fine.”

“Baby, you remember we’ve talked about this. We are going to come and check things out. We need to see the card since that wasn’t in the pic you sent. It sounds like you have someone interested in you besides us and that just isn’t going to happen.” I swear I could hear Rory and Jon growl in the background.

“I don’t know who would send the doll or these flowers. I’m not seeing anyone else. I even asked Logan about the doll when I talked to him earlier and didn’t know anything abou—”

“Who the fuck is Logan?” I hear a smack in the background and both Rory and Jon tell him, “That’s her brother, you fucktard.”

“I think he might be coming here soon. He didn’t seem too certain about me dating ya’ll. He may be my little brother but he’s very protective.”

“Sorry, baby. It’s just this stuff getting left at your front door is worrying me.”

“I get that. When you guys get here, just come inside. You can see for yourself that nothing seems to be out of place. It’s just weird.”

“We’ll be there in a couple minutes. Talk to you in a couple of minutes.”

I put the phone down and get to putting away my groceries after letting Tyger out back. Just as I am putting away the last box in the cupboard, I hear the front door open and heavy footsteps heading my way. As soon as I turn around, Juan is there and not stopping. My back presses up against the counter just as his lips crash down on mine. It’s a kiss that steals my breath away. When he pulls away, he touches his forehead to mine.

“Hey, baby. Thanks for remembering to come to us.”

Nodding, I say, “I realize it’s important to you, so I’m trying.”

“We know you are, babygirl” Jon says from behind Juan.

“Is this the card that came with the flowers, beautiful?” Rory asks me.

“Yeah, and I don’t get it. I’ve never been called Angel by anyone before, and I don’t know why someone would send me those specific flowers.”

“Are those your favorite flowers?” Jon asks me as he opens the bouquet to see if anything else is in there.

“No, not even close. I don’t really like roses but these are white roses and lilies which usually aren’t paired together like this. They both mean purity. None of this makes sense.”

Juan

Fighting the possessiveness that is coursing through me, wanting to throw Jane over my shoulder and take her and lock her up in our house, I grab the card that came with the flowers.

“Baby, I’m going to take this card and envelope and see if I can dig into things and find out who bought these flowers. See why someone thought this was a good gift.” I also plan to put whoever this is in their place and make sure they don’t bother our woman again.
