“Then we release the wrath of Valhalla on those who dare to do us harm.” Finishing the statement Pa had told us since the day each of us came to live with them.

“I’ll call the old guys as Ry drives and get them all there too. We may be older, but we can think and shoot just as quickly as you lot.”

I see Ry grab Tyger to take him with them and run back out to my bike and get to the clubhouse as fast as I can to check all the cameras.

It’s a good thing most of the county back roads aren’t monitored by the sheriff, because I don’t think he’d understand my need to go near three digits in a forty-five zone.

The word must be out ’cause as I approach the clubhouse, the gate is already opening. I stop my bike as fast as I can and hop off, running into the clubhouse. Word must have spread, ’cause no one tries to stop me as I run through the common room and go to my office. Samson, who is almost as good at tech as I am, is already in the room at his computer.

“I’ve got the cameras up from her place and looking at what I can see, brother.”

“Good, I’ll check out the cameras at our place. Faster the better.”

We work in silence for a while. I get to where some soon-to-be-dead fucker enters the house. He’s wearing all black, including a hoodie that’s covering his face from all my camera angles, almost like he knows where the cameras are. Watching him approach the kitchen, I watch my biggest nightmare play out in front of me. Watching Jane turn around at a sound he must make, I see the fear come over her face and watch her run from the room, first toward the front door, but he blocks her way so she takes off to the bedroom with him right behind her. Not having cameras in the bedroom or bathroom, I watched the minutes tick by on the camera. Less than five minutes after he chased her into the bedroom, he comes out with Jane, who’s fucking unconscious and bleeding slung over his shoulder. Whoever this is parked just far enough to be out of sight of my cameras. Fucker knows what I’ve got set up. This means he’s someone we know or someone who’s a serious hacker.

“Fuck!” Looking over at Samson I can tell he’s found the same. “Whoever the fuck this is was covered when he shot Mario and Tim. The camera inside the house was turned off.”

Anger, fear, and helplessness courses through me. Knowing I wouldn’t find out anything in here, I open the door with a force that has it slamming against the wall.

Stomping out to the common room, I see Jon and Rory have made it here.

Rory

I see Juan come out of his office with a look of rage I’ve never seen from him. Hearing the door open behind me, I look to see Max coming in with Ma and the girls behind him. Crashing behind me has me jumping.

“God damn motherfucker!” Juan screams and throws a second chair across the room, hitting the wall. I’ve never seen him this upset or worked up before. He goes to grab another chair, but Jon grabs him from behind. He starts to fight but stops when he hears, “Settle. We’ll find her, brother.”

He sags against Jon and looks up at me with watery eyes.

“There was so much blood in the bathroom. So much blood. He carried her out after he knocked her out.”

Barely above a whisper, so just the three of us could hear it, he says, “There was also a pregnancy test on the counter, but she hadn’t taken it.”

Feeling as unhinged as I just saw my brother act, the realization that our whole world is somewhere getting who knows what done to her, I drop into the chair that was about to be thrown. With a serious shaking of my hands, I put my head in my hands and do the one thing I haven’t done in years. I send a prayer out to whatever deity might be listening.

I can tell the room is now filled with most of the brothers, but they’re giving us a wide berth. I can feel the moment Jon contains his rage. His entire body goes still before he stands up.

“We’re gonna have church, but we’re going to do it out here. I want everyone involved in organizing a search for Jane.”

As everyone starts moving tables around to get them together, Mads walks up to us.

“I think I know who took Jane.”

You could have heard a pin drop after she said that.

“What do you mean? How, who?” Jon asks with a deathly calm in his voice.

“Well, you know how I clean around here every week?”

Nodding at her, she continues, “Well, I also started doing laundry for some of the brothers who live here for some extra money.”

Mick, who’s looking shocked and angry at this revelation, interrupts Mads. “You’re doing what? Since when the fuck has this been going on?”

Mads, who hasn’t had her sassy side since everything went down, actually rolls her eyes at Mick.

“I do it during the week when everyone’s at work and no one is here to bother me. Anyway, I just added the prospects to who I do laundry for. I go into their rooms to grab their hampers. Have y’all seen Cain today yet?”

Thinking back to the shop, he wasn’t there either.
