He is?

“Excuse me, you’re what? I know you didn’t just tell me you’re going to ruin your life and move to be near Plain Jane? What will people think?”

Ma speaks, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard her speak in such a scary tone.

“Listen, I don’t know who you think you are, but you need to get gone now. These men have morals and won’t hit a woman, but it’s been a good while since I’ve had to punch someone. You’re looking really good as the next candidate for me to practice my skills on. You don’t talk about our Jane that way and insinuate she’s anything but the wonderful woman she is. So, what do you say, how about you and I go for a walk?”

Enough is enough.

“Mom, just leave. You don’t want to be here and frankly, I don’t want to listen to another lecture about how much weight I need to lose or what surgery might help my looks. I just can’t deal with you right now.”

She’s standing there glaring at me and I can feel the lecture coming on. Logan shocks me again.

“Mom, just leave. You’re no longer welcome here. If you don’t go, she’s going to help you to your car.”

Ma stands like she’s ready to make good on her word. I swear Mom stomps like a spoiled kid and leaves in a huff.

“How a wonderful young woman like you and a good man like your brother here came from that woman, I’ll never know, but she’s a piece of work,” Ma announces.

“She is, and she’s never going to change so let’s not waste any more energy on her. Now what I wanna know is if what you told Mom is true. Are you really moving here?”

“Yep, and I’m gonna prospect with the club and I’ve got an interview at the firm Ry works at. I can’t handle living back near Mom and you’re the only family I got, sis.”

The nurse finally comes in with my release paperwork and we’re heading back home within a couple of hours. I tried asking the guys if Cain was taken care of but they quickly changed the subject. Looking at Dad, I realized this is going to be something that falls under club business.

Juan

When Jane asked us if we’d taken care of Cain, I was almost positive we were in for another talkin’ to from her about when shit involves her. Color me shocked when she told us all she wanted to know was if she needed to worry about him ever again. Jon assured her that she wouldn’t have to worry. She then told us to go take care of whatever we needed to do and she would be here when we got back. Fuck if she wasn’t made just for us.

When we pull up to the back of the clubhouse where the outbuilding is, I can see Ben, Mick, Shane, and Mike waiting for us. Now to some clubs it may seem unorthodox for us to let two non-members in to watch what’s about to take place, but seeing how they are her dad and uncle, Jon made an exception. I also know he’s going to extend an invitation to both of them to join our brotherhood. We get off the bikes and go greet the waiting brothers. Saxon comes walking out of the building.

“He’s alive, but you did some damage, Pres. He’s probably got a broken nose and a few fingers ain’t pointing in the right direction. What he really is though is nuttier than a fruitcake. Since he came back around, all he’s talking about is freeing her from the demon inside and that y’all have turned his wonderful angel against God or some shit like that.”

“Well, let’s not keep the crazy fucker waiting any longer. Brothers, it's time for us to exact some vengeance.” I’m ready to get this psycho six feet under.

Jon, ever our pres, walks to the door and exclaims, “Remember, we’re knights in shining armor till someone hurts our family.”

We respond in unison, “Then we release the wrath of Valhalla on those who dare to do us harm.”

Looking over at Ror and Jon, I can tell they are ready to take care of this and get home to our woman.

Jon

After walking into the outbuilding, I see what Saxon is talking about. They’ve got Cain strung up on a cross, just like he had Jane, though his hands and legs are just tied to the cross. I guess even bikers have a spiritual line they won’t cross. Looking at him, I see almost nothing of the young man who just five months ago was so eager to prospect and become a part of the brotherhood.

He’s thrashing around trying to get free, but not making any headway. “You let the demon free! I have to exorcise the demon so the angel can fly! Jehovah anointed me and proclaimed that I’m the demon slayer and savior of the angel!” Holy shit, he really has lost it.

Looking at Ror and J, I see they’re also thinking his cheese definitely slid off his cracker.

“So how do you reckon we should finish this? I was thinking of torturing him a bit, but his mind has him so locked up in this delusion that I don’t think he’d notice.”

Ror gets a grin on his face which I know can only mean he’s got an idea.

“Why don’t we tap into Ma’s background and give him a Viking send off, only we don’t send him to meet Hel first.” Holy shit, my brother can be devious. Out of respect, I look over to the man who is going to be my father-in-law to see what he says.

“Well fuck me, you guys might not be one-percenters, but damn do you come up with some creative ways to get rid of someone. Got somewhere private to do that? He’s probably gonna scream a shit ton, even if we stuff his mouth full.”

I nod toward him.
