Once we both returned from the bathroom, I asked, “Did you have lunch yet?”
He shook his head. “I had a late breakfast, but I could eat.”
“We can either order takeout, or I can heat up something I brought over that my chef put together.”
“Do you even have any dishes to use?”
I nodded. “I unpacked a few things to get me by.”
“Okay. We can have something here, but you don’t need to eat what your chef makes when I’m around.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because I can cook.”
I raised an eyebrow. “You can cook?”
“Don’t sound so surprised. My mom worked long hours when I was growing up. Sometimes she brought food home from the diner, but if I was by myself, I had to make my own food.”
My heart broke a little for the struggles he and his mom had endured after his dad died.
“Okay, let’s see what you can whip up with what I have. Jasper brought over some groceries last night and I can replace whatever you use.”
I pulled on my sweats, and then Declan followed me into the kitchen wearing only his boxers.
“Feel free to use whatever you can find in there.” I pointed at the refrigerator and freezer. “Also, I’ve got a bunch of stuff in here.” I opened the door to the walk-in pantry.
He rummaged around in the fridge, pulled out a package of chicken breasts and then found some frozen vegetables. “Do you have any rice?”
“Pretty sure I ordered some.” Searching the shelves, I found the small bag. “Here you go,” I said, handing it over.
“Thanks. Now where are your pots and pans? I also need a cutting board.”
I dug through some boxes and eventually found the things he needed. While he started cutting the chicken into small chunks, I sat at the island.
“Don’t you have some unpacking to do?” he asked with a chuckle.
“Yeah, but I’d rather watch you. You’re pretty hot standing in my kitchen, practically naked.”
He smiled. “Then sit there and enjoy the view.”
“Oh, I will,” I replied, knowing it was one I could easily get used to.

DECLAN
It wasn’tthe first time I’d watched Sean in court, but it was the first time I’d seen him command the courtroom while knowing what was under his suit.
Monday morning, I sat in the first row behind his table, my eyes fixated on him as he stood before everyone and argued his case. His hair was combed back and styled perfectly. Flashes of the way it hung in front of his eyes after we fooled around in his bed played in my mind. I tried to shake the thoughts of him naked from my head; I tried to focus on the way he carried himself with confidence as he presented his evidence, but I couldn’t help the bulge in my slacks as I watched him in action.
As my gaze drifted down his body, the one I knew the contours of intimately, my mind filled with the way his strong arms wrapped around me and the taste of his lips against mine. Getting lost in those memories only made things worse because as Sean moved around the courtroom, I had to keep adjusting the position I was sitting in. No matter what I thought about, everything came back to the man in front of me and how he looked nude.
I longed to run my fingers through his short chest hair, to feel his body beneath my touch and lick my way over his six-pack abs. I couldn’t wait to be alone with him again, to show him how much he turned me on just by being the man I admired. The man I had gotten to know beyond Ashford, Nolan & Torrance.
He was more than just my boss, and seeing him in his element only made me crave him more.
I hadto leave the courtroom before the day was over because I had another case to work on. It was for the best because, during lunch, I’d almost asked Sean for a nooner. It had been on the tip of my tongue, but since he needed to eat before returning to court—and because intercourse wasn’t part of our relationship yet—I hadn’t brought it up.
