By the time I headed home, he hadn’t come back to the office. I wasn’t sure if he was planning to or not, but the court had been closed for a good hour, so maybe he went straight home. Since I hadn’t heard from him, I shot him a text:

Hey! On my way home. Hope the afternoon went well

I made it to the parking garage and slid into the SUV he had loaned me. It was weird to think I was driving his wife’s vehicle, but I kept reminding myself he’d said it sat in his garage.

The shitty thing was: Betsy was sitting in a salvage yard because she needed a new engine I wasn’t going to buy. The mechanic said it would be around three grand, and while I would essentially have that with my next paycheck, I wasn’t ready to drop all my money on something that wasn’t worth the cost. While Betsy had gotten me around for several years and helped me move to Boston, I knew it was time to let her go.

As I pulled out of the garage, my phone dinged with a text:

Just having a drink with an old colleague. What are you doing for dinner?

I sent a reply when I stopped at a red light.

Not sure yet. You?

Jasper cooked something. Want to come over?

I put two and two together that Jasper was his personal chef, but did I want to come over? Hell yeah, I did. I’d been thinking about him naked all day, and there wasn’t a chance in hell I would say no.

Yes. When?

I’ll be there in 20

His new place was less than a two-minute drive and I went straight there and waited in the Escalade for him. Once I saw his Porsche pull in, I slid out. He was still dressed in the gray suit he’d worn to court, which didn’t help my mind racing with lustful thoughts.

“Hey,” he said as he climbed out of his car.

“Hey, yourself.” I wanted to pull him to me and kiss him, but I refrained, knowing there were cameras around, and we hadn’t talked about our relationship going public. If we even had a relationship. We hadn’t discussed that either. We were still on the let’s-see-where-this-goes train. “How’d the rest of today go?”

“Good. Winters will start his rebuttal tomorrow and then we’ll have closing arguments.” Sean loosened his teal tie as we walked into the building.

“How are you feeling about it?”

“We have a strong case.” He pressed the button for the elevator.

“I don’t doubt that. You were hot working that courtroom.”

The doors slid open and we stepped inside.

Sean chuckled as he pressed the button for his floor. “Hot?”

I smirked as the doors started to shut. “I kept thinking about you naked.”

“Oh, really?” He grinned.

I lifted a shoulder. “I couldn’t help it.”

“Well, now, when I see you in the gallery, I’m going to be wondering if you’re thinking about me naked.”

The elevator rose.

“The answer is ‘yes’. Always yes.”

Sean’s smoldering gaze pierced my soul as he stared at me and licked his bottom lip. “I want to kiss you so fucking bad right now.”

“Then do it,” I challenged.

He groaned low and pushed me against the wall. I didn’t resist as his mouth went for mine. We were all lips and tongues when the elevator stopped to let us out on his floor. I wasn’t sure if he would stop, but he did and pulled me toward his condo. Once he unlocked it and we were inside, he pinned me against the closed door and went at my mouth again. I could feel his erection brushing mine as he pressed against me.
