That must be his name.
We locked eyes as he walked over, and the breath started skittering through my lungs, tiny inhales and exhales that hardly did their job.
I swallowed hard, unable to tear my eyes off him.
He was like a romance-book hero come to life. Would he swoop me into his arms and bring me to safety after a grizzly bear tried to take a bite out of me on the hike? Or maybe he could save me from a freezing river. We’d have to strip out of our clothes and use our body heat to warm back up.
It all sounded… delicious.
He settled in place next to the tour guide, never taking his eyes off me. “What’s up, Jameson?”
Jameson pointed at my feet. “Have you seen her fucking shoes?”
Boone looked down at them, then met my eyes again, causing quiet earthquakes to rumble through me.
Then, he opened his mouth and spoke to me for the first time. They weren’t exactly the mostromanticwords.
“Katie, this trip’s for intermediates. Have you ever been hiking before?”
His voice was deep and earthy, slow… like a ragged balm for my soul.
I was completely and totally intoxicated.
In between my hormones going wild on me, I managed to nod my head.
“And you think you’re up for this? Those tennis shoes are a big cause for concern.”
“I—I haven’t bought real hiking boots. I always hike in these sneakers.”
“And you know this is eight hours a day for three days straight, right? You feel up for that? That’s a full twenty-four hours of hiking.”
Eight hours a day?
Somehow, I’d imagined the hike being a little less strenuous. Like a two-hour stroll through the woods before we got to the lodge where I’d soak in a warm tub and maybe book a massage and drink red wine late into the evening.
I cleared my throat. Everything in me was saying that I was in over my head and I should back out graciously now. But even though I didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of catching this guy, I stillhadto spend more time with him.
So I foolishly said, “I might not look tough, but I can hikebothof you into the ground.”
Boone’s lip curled up at one corner into a tiny half-smile. Then he lightly punched Jameson in the arm and rumbled, “Let her come. If she runs into trouble, I’ll take her home.”
Chapter 3
Boone
I was leading up the rear, which gave me the perfect view ofKatie’srear.
Damn, that woman had a fine ass.
It was huge and not entirely fit. It jiggled dangerously with every step she took, on the verge of causing an explosion inside of me. I was desperate to see it naked. I could see myself rubbing my cock all over her ass before grabbing two handfuls of her breasts and ramming myself home.
Bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce.
That was the movement of her buttcheeks with each step she took.
The reaction I was having to her wasn’t normal.
And given the way she’d stared at me when I arrived at the trailhead, I had reason to hope she might be having a similar reaction.
