I race through the shower, keeping my hair out of the spray and only focusing on the area below my waist. I’m sore, but energized. I’d always wondered why people were so sex-crazed, but now I definitely understand. Sex is great.I just had sex for the first time. I don’t really feel any different. I mean, I wasn’t expecting to suddenly feel like a whole different person or anything, but I thought there’d be something besides a slightly achy vagina to mark the turning point between “virgin” and “girl who has sex.”

As far as I’m concerned, the only downside is that I’m down to two pairs of underwear and I’m going to have to put one of them on, which will leave me with one pair for the next two days. I’m going to have to go shopping.

Grabbing my book and glasses off the nightstand, I run my fingers through my hair to make it presentable and race out the door.

Lukas is just stepping up onto the stage for his event as I slip into the audience room. Perfect timing.

Before sitting at his table, he looks out into the audience, eyes crinkling slightly at the corners when he sees me. It’s not a smile, exactly, but I know that’s competitor-mode Lukas being happy to see me. I give him a small wave and sneak forward to slide into my seat next to the parents. If I don’t join them, they’ll definitely notice, especially since they’re in the same place they were earlier so I can’t even claim not to have seen them. But boy, do I not want to spend the rest of the afternoon sitting beside them after I’ve just fucked one of their sons.

It was nice of them to save me a seat, but I’m glad that the event has already started so I don’t have to answer questions about why I’m late or what I did during the break.

“Hi!” Mary whispers, leaning around Summer to greet me.

I smile and offer a little wave, making sure she can see my book on my lap. Maybe they’ll all assume I was just upstairsreading, rather than losing my virginity to Felix while the others watched.

Turning away, I focus on Lukas. It’s always so impressive watching his solves. I can never believe how fast his fingers are, even though I’ve seen and felt them work their magic. Unfortunately, being very fast also means that he’s leaves the stage after only a minute, leaving me alone in the audience with all of their parents and no excuse not to talk to them.

While the rotation of competitors changes over, Elliot’s mom leans forward again to get my attention.

“How did your homework go?”

I freeze. Were they discussing how I wasn’t down here when they returned? Do they suspect we were fooling around upstairs instead of working?

I force a smile. “Good.” I hold up my book so they can see where my bookmark is. They don’t need to know I wasn’t the one who placed it there. Felix was. Right before he fucked me.

Is it just me or is it warm in here?

“How was the museum?” She was super excited to go see the city this morning, so hopefully she’ll want to talk about it a lot and fill our time until the next scramble and I won’t have to say anything more.

“Oh, it was amazing!” she whispers excitedly before launching into a list of all the things they saw as they walked through the exhibits.

Occasionally, Sebastian’s mom also leans forward to add in a tidbit or comment about the museum. As soon as Lukas steps onto the stage for his second cube though, we all sit back to watch. After all, this is why we’re all here. To support our guys.

Lukas warms up his hands with a few turns on his practice cube, and then he’s ready. His cube is revealed and we watch his eyes analyze the data quickly before touching his hands to the starting pad and beginning. His fingers fly through the turns, then he drops the cube and resets his hands. It’s over faster than ever. When he looks up and meets my eyes, I can tell even he’s pleased with his performance.

I’m so proud of him.

When he walks off stage again to wait for his next scramble, I quickly open my book, hoping it will help me avoid additional conversation and possible interrogation by his parents.

“Dear,” says Lukas’s mom, setting her hand on my forearm to get my attention.

Well, there goes that plan. So much for my book protecting me from deep personal conversations with the parents of the guys I’m fooling around with.

She leans in close to whisper in my ear, “You might want to roll up the collar of your sweater.”

I pull back to look at her, and my confusion must be written on my face because she touches a finger to her own neck. I’m still confused.

She looks a little embarrassed as she mouths, “You have a hickey.”

Oh, god. I’m certain that my face is turning beet red as I mirror her movement, touching a spot on the side of my neck just above the collar of my sweater. Sure enough, it feels bruised when I press on it.Fuck. I quickly flip the collar of my sweater up—thank every god in every pantheon that I put on a turtleneck this morning—and turn to face straight ahead, willing the blush that I know is still turning me scarlet to subside.

As much as I would like to sink into the floor right now, I am grateful to Jen for saying something. She could have let me walk around all day with a giant hickey just right out there for everyone to see, but she didn’t. I can’t bring myself to look at her, but I turn my head slightly in her direction and whisper, “Thank you.”

She reaches over and places a hand on mine, squeezing gently once. “We’ve all been there.”

Taking her hand back, she turns to ask Mary a question about the next event, allowing me a much-needed moment to compose myself.

I am going to have to have a serious conversation with her son and Felix when we’re alone together next. It had to be one of them who did this to me, because it definitely wasn’t there until after I fooled around with them this afternoon.
