“We could get it organized in a few days. Do it the next time I’m off work.”

“No. That’s okay. I like the idea of going to Vegas so let’s plan that. I’ll ask Alyssa for some suggestions of where.”

“She’ll offer up Elvis as a choice.”

Lory grinned up at him. “Would that be so bad?”

“Nope. Don’t care where we get married or by who as long as we get married.”

“Me either.”

“C’mon, you two. I want to have this baby so we can fly to Vegas and get you married,” Mazey yelled.

“Wait. You want to go as soon as you have the baby?” Ry asked.

“I said postpone for a day, Rylan. One. Day.”

“I think she’s serious,” Lory whispered.

Jake grinned. “Hell yes, she is.”

EPILOGUE II

24 HOURS LATER…

“I can’t believe we’re married.” Mallory looked at her rings. She hadn’t known it when Jacob had slipped her engagement ring on yesterday but he had purchased matching wedding rings for both of them when he’d bought the gorgeous solitaire diamond.

“Are you happy we did it so fast? You don’t regret not having Donna here?”

He knew her so well now. “No. We have the video to show her next time she visits.”

“We do.” He spun her out and back as he twirled her around the dance floor. Laughing, she looked around at the people they’d shared their special day with. “I never thought I’d be thankful to Renee for anything but I am. I’m so thankful what she did led me to all these wonderful people whom I now call friends.”

Bringing her gaze back to Jacob, she moved her hand from his shoulder and cupped his face. The love staring back at her took her breath. He’d been looking at her like that for months, since long before he’d popped the question the first time. She’d never regretted anything more in her life than saying no that day.

“I should have yes before.”

He shook his head. “No, you should have done what felt right to you at the time. We hadn’t been together intimately that long when I asked you to marry me then, and even though I didn’t like your answer, I understood it. We still had unresolved emotions back then. I think we’re both in a better place now.”

“We are. And I can’t wait to get this new phase of our lives started.”

“What are you talking about? We already started. Even if it was a long and difficult road, our journey began the day I looked up and saw a gorgeous woman watching me and my son.”

“I think I knew then, even if I didn’t admit it. You were always meant to be mine, and so was Maddox. I’m so grateful to Renee for leading me to you both.”

“I am too. Even if I’m glad she’s out of our lives forever.”

Mallory swallowed. “I just wish we could have helped…”

“How many times over the years have you done that? How many times do you think Donna has? I know it’s horrible to say, but some people can’t be saved. Especially when what you’re trying to save them from is themselves.”

“You’re right. And that’s enough of that. It’s all in the past and that’s where it will stay. From today on, we only look forward.”

“Agree.”

“Hey, you two.” Ry stood next to them. “We’re taking the kids back to our suite; the baby needs feeding again.”

Mallory still couldn’t wrap her head around the fact that Mazey gave birth to Gage barely twenty-four hours ago. “Is Mazey feeling okay?”
