Genevieve glances over the menu quickly to see what to get.

“You like burgers?” I ask her.

“Love them,” she answers.

“Two burgers, extra fries, no pickle,” I tell him, then I turn to Genvieve. “What do you want, sweetheart?” I ask her jokingly. Her eyes widen like she’s surprised I can eat so much food.

“I’m just messin with ya. That’ll be all Liam. Thanks bro.”

Genevieve giggles. “Damn, I thought you were about to eat all that food yourself. I was gonna ask you where you fit it all, you’re so fit,” she says licking her lips.

“I’m pretty fit from snowboarding, but honestly, I eat a lot of junk so I’m just as surprised as you,” I tell her. If I’m really being honest, I have the appetite of a bird. It’s only sometimes where I can really chow down a whole meal and finish all the food on my plate. Usually I serve myself small portions, but that’s also partially because food is expensive and I don’t have money to just toss around.

Derek appears from the back once again, holding a pickle.

“I thought the pickle holder might be here… Genevieve? What are you doing here?” Derek says putting the pickle down.

Her face looks puzzled so I lean in to her and whisper, “Inside joke,” hoping that explains enough.

“I’m just learning how to snowboard. What are you doing holding a pickle?” She asks.

“Oh nothing, just enjoying my afternoon snack,” he says, taking a bite out of it.

“Delicious,” He says with a mouth full of pickle. Genevieve laughs.

“I’ll have your burgers right out,” He says.

Genevieve grabs her hair into a ponytail, the same way she did last night when she went to suck my dick and ties it up. I watch her do so in awe. Her pretty golden locks go down to her waist and fall down in loose curls. I don’t think her hair is naturally curly, but the loose look is beautiful on her.

She examines the room and stares at different people at different tables.

“Is this place new?” She asks.

“The resort?” I ask her.

“No, this restaurant,” she says.

“It’s about five years old. A new owner took over then and added this place in. It started out as a bar and then turned into a full blown restaurant,” I tell her. “Wait, have you been to this resort before?” I ask.

“I used to come to Silver Lake with my family when I was a little girl. We stopped going as I got older and then my parents got divorced so we never came back,” she shares.

“Jeez, I’m sorry Genevieve. We are happy to have you back at the resort though,” I tell her. I sympathize with Genevieve because my parents too are divorced and it sucks.

“Thanks. I love it here. I honestly forgot how much I love it here until I came back. After the divorce, it felt like a lot of happy things ended with them,” she says.

“My parents are divorced too, so I feel you,” I tell her. “My dad used to always take my brother and I fishing and since they split, we’ve never gone again. It’s stupid little things that you don’t even realize make you so happy until you do them again.”

“That’s exactly right. I’ve never heard someone say something so relatable before,” she says, and that makes me smile.

Our silence lingers in the air. I’m wondering where this girl has been my whole life. She has to be my soulmate.

My phone buzzes in my pocket. I take it out and glance at it. My stomach clenches when I see who it’s from.

My dad.

Andshocker, he’s asking for money.

Again.
