Jordyn went silent at that. Her friend was right, but her friend was always right. “You’re right,” Jordyn said, verbalizing her thoughts.

“I’m always right,” Dora replied, making her laugh. She pulled in front of their favorite diner, The Spun Spoon, and stopped in a parking spot.

“And always so humble.”

“That’s for boring people, you know that.”

Jordyn laughed again, and turned off her car. She needed to tell Dora about what had happened last night before they went into the diner. Dora would lose her shit, and inside of a packed diner probably wasn’t the best place for Dora to find out about Jordyn’s night with Steve.

“I have something to tell you,” she said softly, once she pulled into a parking spot. Jordyn turned to look at her friend, and reached out, catching Dora’s hand. She gave it a tug and said, “I need you not to freak out, Dora. Do you hear me?” Jordyn hadn’t wanted to say anything before she was parked, not when she knew Dora would flip.

Telling Dora she had broken up with Alex was one thing, but Steve?

That was an entirely different matter altogether. Dora would shit bricks. Her best friend's reaction would be over the top, which meant telling her before they got into the diner was a must.

“What?” Dora asked, narrowing her eyes at Jordyn as she gave her hand another squeeze. “What is it? You’ve done something, but what? Tell me right now!”

Jordyn cleared her throat. “I…well, I kind of slept with someone.”

“When you say slept with someone do you mean sex?! Please, oh, oh please tell me that you mean sex!” Dora screeched so loud that a passing couple on the sidewalk stopped to look at them.

“Shh,” Jordyn hissed, grabbing her friend’s arm. She glanced nervously at the couple and gave them a quick bob of her head, turning to look back at Dora. “Keep it down. We haven’t even left the car and--”

“And what?” Dora flapped her hands at her and then threw her arms around her hugging her tightly. “So what if some randoms here me screaming about sex!” The last word was shouted, and Jordyn winced, knowing the couple on the street, and anyone else within earshot, had also heard it.

“Dora, I swear to god if you keep this up, I’m not telling you another word.”

“Stop lying,” Dora replied. “You’ll tell me everything even if I scream until next year.”

“No, I will not. You have to keep it together if you want to know about my night.”

Dora growled and released her. “Fine, fine. I’ll keep my volume respectable, but if you think you’re getting away without telling me all about your sexual exploits, you’re delusional. Got it?”

Jordyn nodded. “Got it.”

“All right, now spill.” Dora snapped her fingers at her, and reached for the door, opening it. “I’ll mind my manners, but only so long as you keep talking. Now who was it?” Dora asked, eagerly, hopping out of the car. Jordyn followed behind her and barely had time to step onto the curb before Dora linked her arm with hers. “Who was it? Do I know him?” she pressed.

“No. It’s no one you know. I promise.”

Dora led the way into the diner and she turned, bouncing on her toes to look at Jordyn. “No one I know? But we know all the same people.”

“I barely even know him,” Jordyn confessed with a grimace.

“Then that means…” Dora’s mouth fell open and her eyes went wide. “Wait…did you have a one-night stand?” she asked, her voice just above a whisper. Jordyn barely managed a quick nod of her head before Dora was reacting. She clapped a hand over her mouth and gave Jordyn a look that was equal parts scandalized and impressed.

“TELL. ME. EVERYTHING,” Dora demanded, giving her a shake.

“Dora, I don’t even know what it is, so I don’t know what to tell you.I don’t know if it’s a one night stand because, I mean, aren’t one-night stands supposed to be things you possibly regret with people you never see again?”

“Sex is tricky. It doesn’t matter if it’s a one night stand or not, you could end up regretting it either way, you know?” Dora replied, hustling them towards a table. Jordyn hummed at her friend’s words. She was right, of course.

Jordyn sank down into the booth they had picked. “He isn’t--last night is nothing I regret. Not even without knowing anything about him,” Jordyn confessed, her voice low. She leaned over the table towards her friend as she spoke. “He was amazing. Last night was everything I wanted.”

Dora clapped her hands and looked fit to burst, but kept her word at not causing a scene and was quiet while their waitress handed them two laminated menus and poured them steaming cups of coffee.

Only after the waitress had left did she speak again. “Okay, please revisit what you just said and start from the beginning. Immediately. I need all the details and I want you to start with breaking up with Asshole Alex.” Dora banged her hand eagerly on the table and snatched her cup of coffee up.

“Asshole Alex, eh?” Jordyn asked.
