Dora gave her a quick nod. “That’s what he will forever more be known as from me.”
“I like it,” Jordyn laughed. “He was an asshole. A very big asshole. I caught him cheating yesterday with his coworker.”
“From the accounting office?”
She nodded and sipped at her coffee. “Yes, from there. It was,” she cleared her throat, “it was a shock, but it happened and it just made everything I thought I knew, everything I had planned and believed was right or would happen for me, for Alex—it made all of it a lie.”
“I’m so sorry, honey.” Dora reached out and caught her hands in hers before giving them a squeeze.
“It’s all right. It doesn’t matter how I found out. It’s a gift that I did find out before I did something stupid and married him.”
“That would have been terrible.”
“It would have ruined my life. Alex would have done what he was going to do no matter if it was yesterday, today, or five years from now. I don’t deserve that.
“No, you don’t.”
Jordyn looked up at Dora to see her friend nodding with a grimace. “Yesterday something snapped in me, Dora. And-and somewhere in all the crying about my life with Alex, what never was able to happen and all that I lost being with him, became clear. I got really tired of being the girl that Alex didn’t want to sleep with while he was running around spouting all his hypocritical bullshit. And, I took matters into my own hands.”
“What does that mean?” Dora whispered. “What did you do?”
“I decided that I was done with being a virgin. I know, I know, I didn’t tell you about my plan,” Jordyn said, holding a hand up when Dora started to speak. “But, I didn’t want to tell you and then not follow through or whatever. It was just for me, okay? Anyway, I went to The Velvet Throne, and that’s where I saw Steve and I took him home.”
“You went to The Velvet Throne?” Dora cocked her head, looking at Jordyn like she didn’t know her. “That place right on the edge of town? I’ve heard some crazy things about it.”
“Yeah, it is, but it’s really not that bad or anything,” Jordan lied, skimming over the near fight that almost took her down. “It’s just...different.”
“That’s one way of putting it, I guess. I have to hand it to you, Jordyn. It’s just the place that I would go if I wanted to get a little action.” She winked at her friend and Jordyn laughed. “So, Steve, huh?” Dora waggled her eyebrows. “That’s not a particularly sexy sounding name, you know?” she mused and took a sip of her coffee.
It was true. If someone had asked Jordyn if the name Steve was sexy or made her think of a night full of toe curling orgasms, she wouldn’t have said yes, but now she knew different.
“Oh, it’s plenty sexy, let me tell you.” Jordyn sighed, thinking about how Steve had looked walking past her into the club, what it had been like to have his hands on her, his mouth on her skin, and how he had looked that morning, throwing Alex out of her apartment. The name was sexy all right. “That man is good enough to eat. He’s…he’s gorgeous.”
“What does he look like?” Dora leaned closer, her coffee cup gripped in one hand.
“He’s so tall, like maybe 6’4? His shoulders are huge, and he’s made out of solid muscle. And Dora, his ass is amazing,” Jordyn moaned into her coffee mug. “He has brown hair. Its stupid pretty. I don’t even know if it’s legal for him to be so pretty. His eyes are so blue and he has all these tattoos, just everywhere. I love them….” Jordyn trailed off, eyes staring dreamily at the tabletop. She only looked up when Dora laughed.
“Oh my god.” Dora shook her head, leaning back, smiling. “Oh, Jordyn.”
“What?” Jordyn frowned at her friend.
“You sound like you’re falling in love or something,” Dora grinned at her friend over her mug.
“What? No. I said I loved his tattoos, not him.”
“Same thing, really, at this point.”
“No, it’s not! Tattoos are not the same as a whole person.”
Dora shrugged at her. “When it’s this early, it’s kind of the same thing, Jordyn. You like this guy, don’t you?”
“I mean, well, yes, I like Steve…” Jordyn’s voice trailed off when Dora laughed again.
“I’ve known you since high school and you never once talked about Alex like this, with that tone of voice— all breathy and starry-eyed. You’re really into this guy. He must have been amazing in bed,” she said, taking a sip of her coffee and giving her friend a raised eyebrow. “He was, wasn’t he?”
Jordyn blushed. “He was,” she admitted. “I wanted a one-night stand because I was just tired of not knowing what it was like, or feeling like I was missing out. And I was so pissed at Alex for talking about purity, and us waiting to get married, but the whole time he was cheating, and on a copier!”
Dora gasped. “What? On a copier?”
