Jordyn gave a jerk of her head. “Yes, on a copier. It was...look, I’m still pretty traumatized by what I saw yesterday, so let’s not talk about that right now, okay?”

Dora pouted but nodded all the same. “Fine, but soon.

“Yes, soon,” Jordyn agreed, though she was grateful for their conversation to turn back to her time with Steve rather than what she had seen in Alex’s office. “Last night was...it was magic, Dora. I didn’t expect for it to be so—I just…it was perfect. It started as one thing, of something I was doing out of anger and some desperation but it ended...it ended in something that was just for me. Last night had nothing to do with Alex, or being hurt, it was just for me. It was what I wanted.” Jordyn pushed a hand through her hair, feeling warm, remembering how Steve had held her, talked to her, and kissed her through the morning hours. She smiled remembering the soft murmur of Steve’s voice in her ear as he held her. She hadn’t expected that, the talking and the listening, but it had come easily enough with Steve, and it was a gift she intended to treasure.

But then...but then, Jordyn remembered Alex's barging to her apartment that morning and she hit herself in the face with her menu. “It was perfect until Alex got into my apartment this morning.”

Dora groaned. “Are you kidding me? How did he even get in? I—just…wow. I can’t believe he had the nerve to do that after a copier. How did you get him to leave?”

Jordyn smiled at her. “He still had the key I gave him when I went to Europe with my folks. I never got it back because I never had a reason to, but I should have remembered it. I feel dumb not thinking of it.”

“How would you know he was going to cheat and then use it to break into your apartment the morning after you got some action? But again, how did you get him out of your place?”

“Steve threw him out.”

Dora choked on her coffee in surprise. “So the de-virginizer stayed the night?” she asked, and Jordyn rolled her eyes.

“Nice name there, Dora.” Dora laughed before taking another sip of her coffee, this one done without choking. “Yes, he stayed, and he’s coming back tonight to change the locks because Alex didn’t give back the key even after Steve made him leave.”

The look of surprise on Dora’s face deepened, her lips twisted up into a smirk. “He’s coming back? That’s not exactly one-night-stand etiquette, you know.”

“Yes, I know that but maybe I don’t want him to be one,” she said softly, turning the coffee cup in her hand.

“Only this would happen to you, you know that, right?”

“What are you talking about?”

Dora held up a finger as she began to speak, listing each event of the previous day and night. “First, you went to The Velvet Throne looking for a good time. Second, you take home what sounds like a sexy, tattooed bad boy to lose your virginity to, and third, you have amazing sex, which hell yes, I’m so proud of you.” She wiggled her fingers at Jordyn and winked at her. “Fourth, when you wake up, and five and six, he’s still there and he throws your asshole of an ex-boyfriend out on his ass, and seven, he offers to come back to change the locks on your door?” Dora said, and Jordyn nodded slowly.

“You know, when you say it all out like that, it sounds crazy,” Jordyn laughed.

“Yup, because somehow out of everyone at that wild club, you managed to pick the bad boy with a soft spot for virgins.”

“Did I mention he has a motorcycle? It’s this big thing and it was awesome to ride.”

Dora gave her a look of disbelief. “You’ve got to be kidding me. Did he cook you breakfast, too?”

“No. Maybe tomorrow morning,” Jordyn said, thoughtfully.

“Does he have a brother? I need this kind of man in my life. What’s his last name?” Dora asked, whipping out her phone, fully prepared to conduct a full internet search. “Asking for a friend.”

“I have no idea,” Jordyn admitted.

“Oh, so first name basis only, okay…so, that’s slightly more normal for a one-nighter. Do you have his number?” Dora asked, looking up from her phone.

Jordyn shook her head regretfully. “What if he doesn’t come back and was just saying all of that?” she asked, worrying her bottom lip at the thought.

“Well…I think he’ll be back based on what you said. A guy doesn’t do all of that and not follow through on coming back. If he doesn’t, then I’m going to say that he’s missing out on a whole lot more sex with you, because that’s obviously where your head is at right now,” Dora said giving Jordyn a knowing look.

Jordyn laughed, covering her face with her hands. “It was really, really good, so yes, I am thinking about sex right now. Except that, instead of sex, I’m going to be wondering all day if he’s coming back. Awesome way to spend a day off,” she groaned, slumping forward in her chair. She worked full-time as a vet tech, and loved the fact that the vet’s office was a strictly Monday-through-Friday affair that left her weekends open for whatever she might like to do. They did have to come in for emergencies, but those were thankfully limited. Alex had never liked it when she’d had to go in, but Jordyn hadn’t minded. She sat up straight in her chair when she realized that if she did have to go in, she wouldn’t have to listen to him complain about it. In fact, however she spent her time was entirely up to her, and she perked up at the thought despite her worry that Steve might not come back to her tonight.

“Oh, come on, I’ll keep you so busy that you won’t be wondering if your tattooed sex machine is gonna show,” Dora teased. “When is he supposed to come by your place anyway?”

“I, umm, don’t know. He just said tonight after he got off work—and no, I don’t know where he works, before you ask me.”

“Well, shit. Okay, now this is sounding more like a one-night stand.” Dora laughed.

“What do I do?” Jordyn spun her coffee cup in her hand.
